Official New Balance Thread *sizing info for different models on first page*

In case someone is uncertain about the New Balance Rockabilly pack... whether to cop or not... as they're on disco at a couple of places right now. Here's a closer look at both, the 998CBB and 997CGB, as well as on feet footage! I really dig this release a lot and think it's pretty tough to decide which one is better haha. I'm glad I got both :D

Why does New Balance have such a small amount of collabs coming out? Asics ***** that stuff out 2 times a week. Not that I'm complaining, just curious. I would think New Balance does well with collabs and they'd want to do them more often. It is nice to not have a ton of over saturation though.

This is how NB makes their shoes in one of their 6 US factories (i.e. ST33 assembly line only had 28 people)

This is how NB makes their shoes in the UK at Flimby (Cumbria was a shoe making town long before NB moved in back at '82, most workers came from closed down neighborhood traditional shoe factories due to outsourcing)

Look at the sheer size of Asics' factory in China (goto 4:30 they mentioned 300 pairs of hands on the assembly line)

NB seems like a mom and pop shop compare to Asics lol! Okay you can get a Made in China NB retro too but given the choice I want low volume first world quality (I have both Asics and NB retros, the craftsmanship difference is quite clear NB USA/UK is way superior and comparable to my Nippon Made Onitsuka Tigers, even better than limited production Adidas made in Scheinfeld, Germany imho).

Don't think the reason is because it's made in the US/UK. NB does a great job with GRs and NB1s, collabs aren't tooo necessary. Also it's easier to produce things at the drop of a hat in the US/UK factories, that's why you see a lot more restocks from NB then you do asics.

I still think production volume / capacity has a lot to do with it. NB is a very small shoe company imo.

NB is the opposite of all these brands today. They let their GRs run the show and once in awhile they do a collab. Most other brands couldn't survive today if they didn't do so many collabs. Only problem is nobody pays retail for nb GRs anyway so not sure their plan is working. Anyway just my opinion

A certain brand with a history of collabs is doing their first 997 now in April.

New Balance is capable of producing a lot more than you think. When you operate in a foreign country it's a lot harder to handle restocks and what not specially because most of the factories go through broker deals and aren't really owned by the company.

Any luck with J Crew?  Since the info post, 2 independence days have been secured, I wonder who else got lucky?   Probably a grip load of lurkers lol
Nah unfortunately not. I called called a few times too but everyone I spoke to said all three were sold out in size 9.

I would have taken any of them but was really hoping to score concrete jungles.

I'll probably give it a break for a bit and then try again.

Sorry to hear that man.  Size 9-10.5 are like the most common shoe sizes, so they must go quick.

Thanks fam - esp APlus18 who def peeped that exact listing I mentioned. Yeah, this one came in an all-grey box vs the grey/red or the all-blue box. Not sweating. Pretty excited.

Not sure what listing you're talking about.

My 998GY, 998GNR and 1300CL's all came in the gray/red box that the new NB models come in.

I'm referring to this (not my pic).

Damn. Mine's coming in what looks to be the all-grey box, with no red sides. Everything looks great except this is the first time I've seen the bringback in this color box. I don't think I should worry tho. Good looks.

I went a half size down on the 998's that other day, should be here tomorrow, I hope they fit good, some of my 999's on my true size a little big, like thick socks would probably make them a snug fit. They will be here tomorrow, can't wait.
