The craftsmanship,quality and colorblocking is on point. Definitely worth every cent.

If they had looked like this in hand I would have definitely been in. I'm just not a big fan of brown usually. In some of the early images they actually looked like that and I was more excited. Still a beautifully executed pair.

Yeah I saturated the pic a bit but the color is still pretty nice..but definitely more of a caramel brown as opposed to a burnt orange.

Jcrew 997 is made for US grown ups....

i have to agree the craftsmanship of these are top notch but somehow that colorblock aint for me. maybe i'm lost in this, i just dont understand the hype.. might as well invest in the horween if you want superb quality

There wasn't much hype for these, just limited. Horween is also over 2x the price. I also don't like the way full horween looks on a sneaker. To each their own right?

I think there was a lot of hype from the teasers to the box and candy and the fact that it's J. Crew's first and only 997. Definitely worthy of the hype though. I however am not a big fan of brown for sneakers (for boots and dress shoes hell yes). I'm not even a fan of a lot of the Distinct collection where Horween leather is used in patches let alone the Bespoke collection where the entire shoe is Horween.
The 997DSAI is the only "brown" kicks I have. Still I like the butterscotch 997 just not enough to spend 210+tax on them.

Yea, bespoke isn't for me either.
I didn't like the in store price with ny tax and no discounts either, thankfully I came out paying about $169 with the wooden box.

That's messed up... Literally wouldn't let you keep the token?... Someone's power-trippin at that store for making their employees collect them back.
I just did a miraculous* size swap finding a 997jc1 10.5 on the site randomly monday afternoon, calling customer service, ordering it, then lastly returning the pair I got in store to the store...(inner reseller regrets not keeping the sz9 I returned)... I'm happy that I copped JC's first 997 collab, in my size. I can dig that.
*10.5 iirc was one of the first sizes to go once the butterscotch went live. I missed it when I arrived to the site 3~ hours after its launch.

I didn't ask to keep it when I handed them the token initially because I was too focused on the shoes. Afterwards, I called back and asked about it. That's when one if the employees told me I couldn't keep it. She probably didn't know what she was talking about, since women aren't normally be part of the men's dept. It would have been nice to keep the token since it was part of the experience. It's okay though, I went back this week to pick up one of the leftover boxes for free.
And I could have sworn I seen a fsr for them online all night.

I seriously hate how the tongue slides to the side on the 996's, every single pair of mine does that and it looks sloppy when im wearing shorts like I dont know how to tie my shoes or something lol. Only reason why I dont have like 20 pairs of that model cause its one of my favorites.

No you're totally right man. There was almost a FSR for like a good 24 hour+, but the one size that was pretty much gone the entire time was 10.5... then slowly the larger sizes and so on.
