How does NT feel about Common- Be?

Ya'll serious??? It's not seeing Resurrection or LWFC, lyrically or production wise, but it was a very good and focused album, so it rightly has itsplace behind those two.

This album is without a doubt a classic.

I can put this CD in and get taken back to sophomore year, because all I did was listen to this.

It's the turning point of his career to the worse.
people always grow...can't stay the same forever.

i just let this play all the way though. love this album

Prolly his best album, from lyrics to the production is on point. I also thought Finding Forever was slept on, didnt get enough shine.

one of my favorite albums ever.

lyrics to Faithful and Love isis just amazing songwriting and thought process.

a lot of these NT internet thugs will call it "soft" (at least from what I've learned in the past) but yea, classic album no if's and'sor but's....Com's fourth best effort behind Resurrection, LWFC, and One Day It Will All Make Sense, (

be is his fourth best work, yet it's still a classic? i'm not picking on you, but i can't say that a certain emcee has four classicswithout me saying that he is greatest of all time.

i can accept that statement more easily if you tell me that common if your favorite rapper. if he isn't, then what isn't classic?

maybe i'm just a grumpy young man, but i don't see why we can't say an album is very good without saying it's classic.

My favorite Common album.... followed by "Like Water for Chocolate" and "Finding Forever."

You have a point I guess. I suppose I like One Day It Will All Make Sense more but when I think it about it's definitely not a better album. Regardless,Com has three definitive classics if you ask me. He's not my favorite rapper nor do I think he's in the GOAT discussion. I think he's in the top 15range for sure though. I've always said Com's catalogue is one of the best though.

I like the album, "Love Is" is one of my favs of all time. I don't consider it one of the GOATs but, its right below the top tier IMO.

Hes like a big brother ive never had. Even though i havent had a tough life he still has soothing words to help you through hardships. He said on one of hismixtape that he chilled with every type of person. The hood dudes, the preps and etc......

Be was amazing though. It was also to short.

Commons my favorite rapper i was there since he dropped out of college in the anna.

Peak performance...I dont think another artist could romance those beats like he did, they were perfect for him and him alone. Cats can't even freestyle tothem and sound right.

Common's best album is Resurrection. I don't even see how it's up for debate.

So what if dude has 4 classics (I don't agree, but let's say he did) it doesn't mean he's GOAT or even in the discussion because there areplenty of dudes whose whole discographies are pretty much classic yet still are not GOAT status.

Just because someone has bad luck with albums or doesn't get a chance to put out more than one or two doesn't mean they are not GOAT material or notbetter than someone who has a line of classics. They can still be better rappers.

who has four classics? that's a lot of classics.

if illmatic is a classic, there are rappers with four illmatics in their catalogs? if they do then they have to be the greatest, how could they not be?

Let's say Common does have 4 classics.

Is he better than Pun ? Big L ? Biggie ? If you say yes the discussion is over don't even read the next part.

Who has arguably 4 classics ? I'll list a few.

Kool G Rap
Masta Ace
Redman
Tupac
Scarface
LL Cool J
KRS-One
Rakim (counting /w Eric B)
Method Man (arguable)
Showbiz (/w AG)
Outkast
The Roots
Nas
Big Daddy Kane
Killah Priest
AZ
M.O.P
EPMD
MF Doom (given some time)
Steady B
IceCube
Wu-tang

a grip more. I tried to leave out ones I feel belong here but most on NT wouldn't agree with.

at Illmatic being the measuring stick for a classic album. Illmatic is the measuring stick for GOAT album status lol

i was just throwing an album out there just for arguments sake

as far as classic goes, your definition of classic isn't the same as mine. to me, a classic is the top of the top, the very best of what our genre has tooffer. if you asked me to name to 50+ rap albums that i label as classic, i couldn't. you have 20+ names listed there, at four classics each. that's abunch.

had i known you were throwing the label around so liberally, i never would have said anything. i couldn't name more than one rapper that i would say hasmore than one classic; getting it right once is damn near impossible, so much goes into making a classic lp. getting it right twice is a mirale feat, in myopinion.

^I feel you, a lot of people agree with your definition of the label classic. Personally I think it's a little too conservative but I definitely see whereyou're coming from.
