Is this a coincidence?

Is there any correlation to the quality of retro Air Jordans decreasing after MJ's retirement? He used to wear a lot of the then current retros duringgames. Is it possible that they kept the quality decent to hold up to the abuse he would put on his shoes during game play? Or is this just coincidence?

i dont think soo cuz im pretty sure the shoes he gets are custom fitted. so they have to chance to give him better quality sneakers.. i thinkk they are justgettn greedy cuz its cheaper to use crapier material

cheaper materials = bigger profits
I don't think it has anything to do with his retirement.

and wow, we are on this guys peapod colorway

jb just got more greedy and doesn't think of quality. everything is money and not for the people..

the quality may have gone down the drain after his retirement b/c MJ would no longer b making millions of dollars a year as a player

the last j's i copped were the blk/metallic retro v's and i can tell that quality was kinda shatty. the fire red 5's in dec. 06 was decent. idkabout the quality now but everyone is saying its beyond bad. i think b4 they were made to ball in. So if they broke down back then while playin bball we wouldhave stopped buying, and now since its more of a casual wear they are not concerned with quality for bballing purposes so they can use cheap material cus theyknow we jus stylin with them. lol does that make sense?

seems like a good point

its also about the economy, and also about the fact that we continue to buy, just a prediction but it makes sense quality will decrease until they get themessage that crappy quality wont sell...im just as guilty though i wanted cdp 11's as bad as anyone

i know the player edition of these days are still done better than regular shoes

the quality is decreased only on retros. the sig shoes have still been brilliant on initial release.

Very well could be, maybe he doesn't have the time to make decisions anymore or he hires a bunch of "yes" men.

That pretty much sums it up. Companies will always try to find ways to cut corners & increase profits.

The only true way to raise the bar quality wise, is to have the target audience, combine their buying power and not purchase the low quality joints that arebeing release. Unfortunately that will never happen in the shoe game. It's every man for himself, with all the resellers buying up every anticipatedrelease for their own selfish reasons and what's worse are the hype beasties paying the resellers rape me prices.

Basically, at the end of the day it all comes down to how many units are sold. If JB sells out all their stock on a particular model/style why should theyincrease quality?

What does that have to do with the quality of the recent retros though?

Aside from that, its all about cost effectiveness on shoes. It's been stated countless times but people still act like they don't have a clue. Ajumpman and a half @%+ quality shoe of an OG model goes along ways in putting your $ into JB's bank account because most people are sheep and will alwaysshell out money to support a JB product.
