Another topic about J's in general

Hey guys

Since I'm from Europe I have a little different perspective on JB but generally I also feel like it's putting out crap out lately.

My question is...and I would like your opinions;

1. Do you think that JB isn't aware of disappointed their older fans?
2. Do you think that JB keeps the REALLY significant releases for their "black days"
3. Would JB sell XI's (concords, columbias, whatever) in enough units to accomplish their target profit?

Because I would say that's the most sought J, or at least one of the most sought, but if the majority of the buyers are kids - how is that shoe significantfor them?

They weren't around in 95-96 to witness that unparalleled season, they didn't drop their jaw after seeing 100 Ft rim commercial....

...could it be that JB just realized that the new fans are more important than the old ones? Unfair but....business is business....

What are your takes on this?

1. Do you think that JB isn't aware of disappointed their older fans?

Like u said this is a business they dont care if people like it or not
cause there is always dudes that would buy the crap that JB is releasing

Either way they will make mad money even tho some of their shoes end up in the NIKE OUTLETS

i guess majaority of people who buy jordans, are with all respect, kids and teenagers
and thats also the target group of jb, not the teenagers of the eighties andnineties;; we had our days, let them have theirs
onl consequence is that some people, like me, won't buy a single release of jb.. bt that doesnt hold up against thepeople who do like candy AJ III, orpatent leather Vs

What if they decide to go crazy and make 2010 (it is the 15 years of the brand after all) crazy as hell with all the "Best of the best" releases...Ithink they would make more money from OG heads and new kids who appreciate the game than from new kids who are in it because it's trendy.

I know they're aware of us OG fans are getting old. I'm 24. I still rock kicks and I won't stop but it's just so disappointing sometimes...

It's my personal opinion that all these new signature shoes are UGLY as hell and have no value - but to these new kids - they will mean something, at leastI think they will, in 10 years.

But I look at Reebok Kamikaze or Shaqnosis or More Uptempos or concord XI as the best basketball shoes ever in terms of charisma, appearance...

These new shoes today are bland...soft......tasteless....mild. I don't know. I could be getting old tho.

^^^^^ Na they make more money out from the kids have u seen how many peole rock FUSIONS like here in MIA almost 80% rock those wack fusions so for sure theymade mad money with that garbage, the other 20% are the ones that rock OG, retros and good stuff like me LOL but if they release the old jays like the OG andstuff they will loose cause the price of the old jays will go down and the hype will go down as well

Welcome from Europe!

The thought of JB "holding back" certain colors.... they have released almost EVERY jordan as a retro. There are only a select few goodies thathavent come back (Bordeauxs and Powder 9 are 2 I most want)

In terms of their profit goal, keep in mind that once the shoes are shipped off to retailers, JB has ALREADY made their profit - slow sales or not.

The literally can keep pumping out fodder for the masses, retailers keep on ordering, they keep on profiting.

If they release a hot release (Say White Red 12), and also release some trash like Rainbow Bright Six RIngs... its the same profit level for them.

Well said, Karl.

lol now this thread has reminded me that I used to have the red Kamikazes and I suddenly miss them ... But as for holding out on important OG colourways ormodels, it's true they've retroed pretty much everything there is, but I hope they do something special to celebrate 15 years next year because I gotinto the game kinda late and I'd really like to add some of the classics to my collection ... for retail!

If more people felt this way, that better day would be around the corner. But since most people who buy Jordans are idiots or hypebeast, we have avery long wait.

Brand J. is bringing heat come may ,alls there doing is building the hype ,and with the drought going on for a few months now, itll be another 2mos. before wesee J's worth while,, its all a marketing ploy,it wont be long before J.b. got there hands back in your pocket.........

GOOD POINT BRO EITHER WAY THEY WILL MAKE MAD MONEY NO MATTER WHAT HAPPEN SO FOR JB THIS IS JUST A BUSINESS
THEY DONT CARE ABOUT OLD HEADS THO

JB has only one thing in mind and that is to make profit. they stop caring about what people from the older generation wants and target the newer generation.they will come out with all sorts of crazy colors and once in a while, release some og colors for the older generation. they are surely aware of the qualitiesof the newer retro are crap because they dont care and know people will still buy regardless even if they are selling them at the outlet. they will still makeprofits..

like you said we had our day. THe difference is this, back then we had jordan to sport his own shoes. So we all wanted to be like jordan. Yes, i saw him playand wanted to have the shoes shirts and so forth. Now, they are marketing to a younger audience ie teenagers. The difference is this they see ray allen, mikebibby mike finley rip hamilton, they see all of those guys wearing the fushions, 6 rings, and other j.b shoes and they wanna be like them. Its the same thingas it was for us except different generation with a different set of people to look up to.

Cheers, where are you from? Anyway, in response to the above question I don't really think age matters at all. I was around for the 10 ft rimcommercial (which I think is stupid lol) but my jaw dropped for the shot of the Concord XIs. I think a young collector seeing them for the first time mightfeel the same way.

ive only been collecting for about a year, so im new to "the game" as some people call it. i didnt know that people were disappointed with thequality of the recent shoes until i joined niketalk because i have never been able to experience the OGs or some of the older retros (i was only gradeschoolwhen they came out) but i remember when i was very young and i really wanted some jordans and they had retro 8s and all these numbered jordans in**CLEARANCE**!! now youre lucky to get a pair of jordans for retail. its sad how things have changed

to the op:
how are you going to say that 2010 is their 15th anniversary? jordans started releasing in '85, not '95

skip the releases u dont like.

Take a step back and fill in the holes in your collection.

Get those grapes, olympics, concords or w/e u missed out on.

well said my dude, thats exactly wat im doin, i have not copped anything that dropped in 09 yet. only pair that almost got my money was the maxorange, but they were to hard to find and i wasnt beat to pay over retail. other than that everything is trash so far. hopefully all the heat that is spose todrop later this year will. than JB can have my money again....

Another one of these Threads?
Listen, Real Talk here. Almost all the OG colors that Matter have almost all been Retroed at one point. And they can't keep bringing out the SAME OG'Syear after year, for it would cheapen and Devalue the Game for everybody. Listen if everybody could get an AP Watch, would it still hold the same Value? Theanswer is NO. You guys Know, I know it, JB Knows it, and the whiners know it too. If you Don't Like Don't buy it. They have to try and put out newvariations of it to try to appeal to the consumer. Granted there have been some serious BS releases that Have Dropped, But that's going to happen with anyproduct. Give it time, JB knows what going on out there for they have people who read NT. And once again for the people who ask I DO NOT WORK FOR NIKE/JORDANBRAND. However I have my ways of knowing whats going on in things that I have a "Vested" interest in........Hopefully when May creeps around and allthe info is leaked, then people can make honest opinions of JB.

...............Nuff Said.
