I'm actually in DC but I wouldn't be surprised if it went down in NY as well. This took place at the Capital Centre aka US Airways Arena in the early90's. They shut that entire spot down in 97 though. I was a very young cat then so it was my mother,a former friend of mine,his mother and myself.

Usually its either before/right after an album comes out so they can promote that, or around summer time. You should definitely start looking out now though, within the past hour I've searched and realized Nine Inch Nails and MGMT will be touring. Even if that's not your cup of tea, summers are usually the best times to look for shows. Where are you from?
If you have the ability to travel look out for summer festivals. Usually there's a wide array of acts spanning most genres, hence how I was able to see Stone Temple Pilots and Kanye West in one day. Plus they're just an awesome experience if you go with a few people, and last a few days if you're up for that.
