1994, the year air jordans pretty much almost DIED.

Hated Barkley, but respected him. After my mom bought me the OG playoff 8s(yes I admit that my momz bought me J's at the time cuz I was 14 at the time, with no job) along with the fact that Jordan decided to hang it up, I decided to look elsewhere for my kicks. I had gotten 2 pairs of Nike Swifts. One in blackand blue (Derek Harper wore them at the time he played for the Knicks) and these:

not my pic btw

and a pair of these

It wasn't until the OG concords dropped and my Moms chipped in half along with my half (had a job when I was 16).

True, I was 17 and those were the days. I too was rocking vans but, I upgraded to Nikes and Jordans once I hit 18 and started working.

Yeah, I called em Derek Harpers too, smh at me lol. I was a fan of AMs and big bubbles. The price tag weren't a fan of the person buying em for me lol.

I loved the IXs when they came out (and still do).

Never been a fan of X, but those CBs are hideous to me as well. Too bulky and the dots look silly.

Point Blank if Barkley or Penny would have one 2+ championships i guarantee they would have had the same following as Jordan did but like someone previously said neither where surrounded by the depth that the bulls where. Not taking anything away from Jordan cuz he is still the Greatest of My time but its easier to shine when you have that much depth.

Didn't the Suns finish top of the league in 1992/93? I'm not saying they should've beat the Bulls, but apparently they had the depth and talent tosustain results all season long. Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Danny Ainge. Dumas had a decent rookie year; Oliver Miller wasn't stellar, but his numberswere almost identical to Cartwright's.

when i first saw the X's on Martin i thought they were the sickest shoes ever. i didnt even know Barkley had a shoe line at that time

i remember, but that what makes the 11's, 12's and 13's so amazing. they were the foundation for the great comeback

I remember those days, I was 8-9 at the time and my old school Chinese pops wouldn't buy me any J's. Instead, he only brought me @*!++% $@+ paylesskickz.

PS. I hated Barkley when he was playing.

at Barkley being an average player, and another

at you youngins trying to say Jordans did not fall off in this time period.

Yes you could get those Jordans in the $19.99-$39.99 range because these were my AAU team shoes from 94-95.

2009 might be a repeat of that time if JB does not get it together.

Nike Retro>>>>>>JB in 2009..........

dude, i remember those day's. i remember when i bought a pair of aj retro 1's at like a wilson's sporting goods so i can skate inthem

and i remember when the concords came out, everybody was hating at my school...calling them tap dance shoes..but i still copped...

And then the XI's came out the following year to save the Jordan line and turn it around 180 degrees. 1995 was the renaissance of kicks w/ the XIs, Air MaxPenny 1s, Air Max Cwebbs (Air Max Sensations), Air Carnivores, Grant Hill's, etc.

Even though all those kicks came out in or around 95, it was the XI that saved this hobby. It's amazing what one shoe can do for an entire industry.

Some of y'all just caught up in the Jordan Hype

I'll take and wear some Barkleys over alot of Them Jordan's any day of the week

Like someone previously stated, I think the X's were the first Jordans IVE seen on sale (and rather quickly) and that was the reason why my mom got themfor me and my older brother for $79.99. Personally I never really cared for jordan before then (cause i was and still a die hard knicks fan, I basically hatedhim but gave him mad respect), and i was rockin barkleys until my those X shadows. But I agree with the fact Nikes new tech was definitely getting theattention and that all of people werent feeling the IXs and the Xs. Thats back in the day when i used to collect Eastbay magazines and circle all the shoes iwas DYING to get, as well as AUTHENTIC Nike College shorts. Anyways, alot of other players/shoes got alot more attentions when the IX and X's were out, andto those that are downplaying Barkley are trippin. He was freak of nature only to be overshadowed by bigger freak of nature..(MJ). Im 26 btw.

Who is this dude talking about the '94 retro IIIs were never on sale for under $25?
roll.gif

Hell yeah they were, dude.

Like people have already mentioned and explained, Jordan went to baseball, the IXs were desired by approximately 7 people, the Xs were only desired afterJordan returned, and Nike was moving on with the line. The XIs literally breathed life back into the Jordan line.

Don't get me wrong Penny's and Bakley's were dope, but those dude's weren't winning chapionship's like Mike was. Straight hater's!

U uh.....wanna talk about it guy? Gettin pretty steamed over there are we?

I remember that time vaguely. I'm not too far off the 25 mark (I'm 23) But those were the good ol days. Moms still wouldn't cop me a pair of J's even though they was on sale

talkin bout I had just got a pair of sneakers

I couldnt have put it better myself. I loved the Penny's livin in Jacksonvile cause everyone was a Magic fan. Barkley's werent as heavy but theIX's were laughed at. I remember the first time I saw a cat wearing those IX's were a Lego brick. We clowned that guy for day's Then 6 years laterI had a jumpoff go grab the same IX's at the mall at 6am (she was a bad one, wish i still had her on the team more than the IX's) Somehow in the longrun Jordan still win's And that comment made about Jordan not retiring and the Rocket's not winning 2 in a row...........Classic! I never reallythought of it like that. If there were no baseball for MJ he would have ripped the Magic in their prime and then destroyed the Rocket's and added 2 more"chips" as you say.

2009- the year jordans will die. Imm totally losing interest in jordans because of all the crap. Nike, on the other hand is giving every sneaker company abeatdown this year!

I somewhat agree with this. I do think the Jordan brand will suffer one of it's worst years since the early-mid 90's, but with Tinkerreportedly designing the 2010 and the 25th anniversary right around the corner, I think next year has the possibility to be one of if not the best year for JB.You just know JB has BIG plans for next year. But yeah Nike>>>>>JB this year.

you can almost say jordans were on the brink of being played out like the vince carter line.
Damn those were the days, mikes def played the background that year.
That dude is crazy if he thinks barkley was decent at best.
