people clowned on my when I was wearing the black/red 1s in '94. I always loved them but they definitely didn't carry the status that year that theydid in '85 and then again in '01 thru to present day. I wish to God that I hadn't beat them to hell as I did.

Jordan fell off after the VIII's and didn't rebound until the XI's, I remember those days clearly.

I also remember seeing the first Jordan retros on clearance. I think I might've picked up a pair of I think 3's, looked at them and wondered who wouldbuy a pair of old @!* Jordans. Funny stuff.

I hear you bro, I'm 30 so I remember that era when J's started to lose their flair. But you know I think J's had a rough time during that period,cause the early to mid 90's were all about flash. That's why the Barkley's, Penny's and all the air max 2's did so well at that time. Theretro I-III's along with the IX and X's were too simple for that time. If anything they were ahead of their time. Cause when we look back, althoughthe barkleys and Penny's are classics in their own right and won the battle in '94 each of those J's ultimalty won the war.

i think those probably killed jordans for me the first time

spring time was approaching and wanted a pair of..

but they was askin too more then what my moms was willing to give...

these were on sale but i REFUSED to get em....i thought they were the ugliest pieces of dirt ever

i settled for these.

I had the flights pictured above ,in all red to match my basketball teams colors,,
When I first seen a pair of 10's on someones feet I thought them joints were hideous,
at that time itd been any kick d@mn near over 10's,, but the 9's I love the 9's since the initial release,,
still to this day I wish I couldve gotten them charcoal 9's,, but I have a feeling theyll come soon enough,,,,

the 9's were not popular either thay sat in store shelves forever.

Im a big barkely fan and fan of his sneakers, but in no way did his line dethroned jordans line, maybe from 1994 on barkleys could have cought up to the jordanline if mike would have stayed retired.

To this day, the most popular AJ's are the colors and model's that MJ wore and did something special in. Yes, Penny and Barkley were popular backthen, the ix and x were farily lackluster models....AND the retro's 1-3 flopped bad, but it was because of the era when "new" was the onlything....retro wasn't cool until nike stopped making ton's of cool shoes all the time.....94 was still Nike's "Golden era"...itwasn't until 98/99 that the current releases strated falling off and it was cool to go retro.....and the IV's came back out.....and here we are todaywith patent leather V's scheduled to come out.....yikes! (sorry, it's an easy target)......

In my area, very few people bought the IXs. I specifically remember only two kids having them in the whole school. Many people were still wearing play-offVIIIs or buying Barkleys. And I never even saw the Air Jordan X until Mike came back with them on. NOBODY HAD THE Xs! As for the '94 retros, I'm notgoing to even lie, I never knew those existed until the year 2001. Guy at Footlocker was trying so hard to sell me a pair of AJ Is that he went into thehistory.

I remember that year ALL-TOO well. The only Jordan I wanted during that time-frame were the Carolina/White IX's. I ended up getting those for my B-Day. Theonly shoes I was wearing during that time were Air Max or Turf-Trainers

I am A true MJ fan I remember borrowing my friends black/white/red IX'S to ball in at the boys and girls club. I loved them. And when my brother and I gotgood report cards my mom took us to get the IX'S. I got the carolina/white, and he got the charcoal/red IX'S. Those are some of the hottest shoes ever.The carolina and the charcoals oh, god. I remember my teacher saying "Come to the office with me." I thought I was in trouble. when we got there shesaid to everyone "Look at those shoes aren't those the most beautiful shoes you have ever seen?"
and all the staff was staring at them. I loved the IX'S mj chilling on his lounge chair with them, I loved the foreign languages on the bottom of the shoe.I never even saw the X's until the episode of martin when he's telling gena "These are the new Jordans." Everyone always asked me how muchdid you pay I said "100 dollars." And they would always outrageously say "100 dollars!!!!!!!!." Oh yeah I also had the barkleys, they werehot. I remember the commercial I bump and bruise in my new nike shoes. But all the true cats knew barkleys were cool, but barkley will never be MJ. and penny?,come on.It was special back in the day to wear Jordan's you were wearing the greatest it gave you an awesome feeling, not like now days when every loser iswearing a pair.

Oh man do I remember it well.... LOL.... I still remember having an argument with my basketball coach (he was rocking the Jordan IX at the time) about howPenny's were better than Jordans (I was rocking pennys at the time). Boy was I young and immature (12 years old at the time).

But that just shows that Nike's Marketing campaign was doing it's job. You had kids telling older vets that the Jordans they were rocking were obsoleteto the Pennys/Nikes they had on.

1994 - Bad year for Jordans.... GREAT year for Nike
