Well you can count vocal chords as an instrument so it is a valid argument for best musician

But my choice is

possibly...but know one knows what michael's musical theory capacity is...all we know is that quincy jones and dudes like that pull the strings.

MJ =/= musician....

Is this thread about greatest musician or greatest recording artist?

a couple of MJ's hits in the 80's he either wrote or co-wrote .......... I can't remember which songs exactly but I think it was either an ICONspecial with Quincy or some tribute where he was talking about Micheal and how they would come up with the arrangements together, and going over a couple ofthe songs

Also vocals is an instrument ...... and let's not even get into musical theory 'cause many famous, well respected dead and alive musiciansdon't/didn't know a lick of music theory and at the very best just enough to barely get by

Two very good examples of this are Hendrix and Bob Marley

Music theory =/= greatness

I'm just saying musician = performer...on stage, live etc. and performer as in =/= dancing; singing =/= playing

vocal chords are an instrument. But lets leave the best singer tag to the best singer, and the best musician tag to some one who plays and performs aninstrument for a living...that's all..

He probably hasn't been around long enough to be considered, but Jack White is easily up there for me.

Somewhere between Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, can't choose though. Prince is close behind.
