NT atleast...

This is the FIRST Lil Wayne album I've heard (I had better taste in music in the past tho...), but this *!** is a SOLID effort, especially in this day andage of hip hop. If there was ANY album or artist that deserved to sell a million in a week, it was this, the the lil N his props . . . Don't be a hater allyour life . . . There are some flat out bizarre rhymes on here (Verse on"You Ain't Got Nuthin", "Playing With Fire") but give him abreak, the poor guy was on drugs

3Peat
Mr Carter
Dr Carter
Tie My Hands
Shoot Me Down
You Ain't Got Nothin
Don't Get It
....
Also the singles, prolly not the best songs in the world, but they did wonders for his #s so you can't really argue with success (unless of courseyou're a hater)

I agree the hype killed people's reaction to the album but consider he had atleast 2 FULL ALBUMS of songs leaked prior to this i say he would have had thebest album since college dropout had none of the tracks leaked early IMO

Its not a horrible album. Its actually pretty nice after giving it a few spins. Though, as a fan, I felt he dumbed it down way too much. I'm not too crazyabout his new style....Wayne using auto-tune is wack to me. I was so hyped about his first single since he usually brings the heat, but 'Lollipop' wasatrocious. I don't care if it boosted up his sales to 10 million copies in one hour, that song was horrible. After giving us two great previous efforts, and 2 years+ of claiming to be the greatest breathing MC...I was expecting Tha Carter III to be @##*+*! flawless, with no exception.

In the end, it was a nice album but Tha Carter I and II were much better.

I don't think this gets hated on...
It gets recognized for being a good album...
The replay value isn't there though...

Usually when an artist puts out an album, it showcases their best body of work for that time.

Most of these songs were subpar. His mixtapes were better.

basically. you could make a compilation album off the mixtapes leading up to this and it would be >C3

the third thing in any trilogy is bound to suck in comparison to the previous efforts

its a solid album....the hype was worthy though considering once he made a remix/freestyle to your song, the OG just couldn't really get spins no more

hype > product, word to Jordan Brand

It gets hated on because Wayne has become a lot more commercial. Then people hate on him. I swear NTers think a rapper needs to have incredible lyrics andflows to make good music.

I tried to like it but i couldn't, the production was decent, good to ride around to but his voice is annoying. Most of his rapping doesn't make sense, sloppy verses. Probably the most overhyped album to ever drop

Go listen to the Carter II or I...then you'll understand the hate o this album.

Its like Nastradamus compared to Sillmatic.

There are just some songs that are pointless, do not add anything to the album, and seems like they were effortlessly put there as replacements to some of thegreat songs that were leaked. It seems like instead of putting in effort to brush himself off from the impact of the leak and to become determine to make thealbum better than before, he replaced the songs with these simple one dimensional songs which a) have simple mainstream southern souljaboyesque beats (aka"got money" which I hated and will never grow on me, LaLa
sick.gif
, A Milli) b) old songs from mixtapes (Aint Got Nothin on Me, Comfortable) I actually donot know if those songs were leaked on mixtapes without permission but either way it shows he was too lazy to make new things and those two songs were notalbum caliber songs. Until just now I forgot that Aint Got Nothin on Me was on the album and when I looked at it, I was just as surprised as the first time Isaw them. The exceptional songs on the album imo were 3peat, Mr. Carter, Please Don't Shoot me Down, Playing With Fire, and believe it or not Lollipop(even I enjoy a club banger like this every once in a while just for its party aspect). When you don't put your heart and soul into each song, you cannotmake timeless songs that others connect with and want to play over and over again. There was a definite and obvious lack of effort here with a few bright spotsin between.

Sorry for double post but in your opinion, besides good lyrics and flow what makes a good rapper? Mindless dribble over a hot beat?

It's a solid effort, I'll say that.

I didn't think he could do it after his abysmal performances prior to the release.

Not to mention him degressing flow and lyric wise.

C2>>> Anything else lil wayne has done imo

that stayed on rotation for a while

i never liked c3 or c1 or any of his hotboys stuff

All his best work unintentionally leaked prior to the album; u cant fault him for not bringing a great album. You cant recreate a great album - 'aight, letme get back in that zone I was in...before all my music leaked'

.It's not happening; there's no on switch for that . Them C3 sessions - Drought 2 to be specific - were something special... If that made it to analbum, it would of been ridiculous. After them leaks, having to start from scratch and come with anything even decent...he deserves the numbers he put up.

There are many things that make a good song. Beats, delivery, a good hook, the rappers voice.....etc. Why is it that hip hop is the only genre of music thatthe lyrics are so closely scrutinized? You dont hear people say "that country singer sucks because his lyrics dont have as much meaning as that othercountry singer" do you? And Im not saying that lyrics arent important, but on the flipside, just because a song has great lyrics, does NOT mean its agreat song.

For me, i didn't fell it was a bad album so much. it as more me comparing it to c1 and c2.
