even with a cheap price point I don't foresee any of these selling like that.... But since this is a newer soe not a retro shouldn't it be in the nike section not nike retro #imjussaying

Actually, thats probably the exact reason for this shoe...
Retail buyers (retailers) will look at the Air Force Line and see how well it sells annually (inflated by sales of AF1) and are willing to purchase models in that "family" that can be considered exclusive.
You have to remember, there are a number of competitors out there and you have to carry different (or more "exclusive" product) than your competition. If you carry something they don't, thats an advantage. Albeit, they (retail buyers) don't really know what's hot or sells, so they don't know the difference between this and an AF1.
Throw in the part where Nike pitches the shoe as an urban staple or the next thing since sliced butter, and wallah....
