NikeTalk, Please dont shoot me for this!!!!! Penny vs Jordan, WHAT IF?????????

Personally, I dont think the Pennys or lebrons or any other basketball shoes can AT ALL compete with the Jordans looks-wise. So to me, NO.

the thing with penny's line is it wasn't a every year thing....PLUS the league had a lockout shortened season...PLUS he was injured, so we may havenever known...

here's a tidbit:

the second longest series after Jordan's line is Ken Griffey junior's line...comin in at 10 shoes.

then its deter jeter...that dude has more sneakers that i can count.

I'm guessing you are talking about signature shoes within Nike, not throughout the whole sneaker industry. Because if you weren't, you can't forgetIverson who will soon have 13...

Penny's sigs could only compete with Jordan's from a design standpoint. But Air Jordans are so much more than just a nice design. When you bought apair of Air Jordans you were convinced that you were buying a pair of sneakers inspired by the greatest player to ever play the game. Not only did Nike makeyou believe it, (through marketing) but so did Michael by going out and proving every night that he was the best in the league. A lot of Jordans weren'tinstant classics, But after Mike went out there and put up 45, 55, 69 points, it changed a lot of people's veiw of the shoes. You'll always notice thatpeople (especially Niketalkers) love to say that Jordans fell off after the XIV's, and this is no coincidence that this is the shoe he ended his(successful) career in. But as far as design, I'd agree and say that Penny's sig COULD have gave Jordans a run for their money. But it's reallyhard to compare 4 sigs to 23.

OP

I also made the mistake of making a thread
in the Jb forum questioning Jordans superiority.
This is the wrong place because some dudes
are hypnotized by a jumpman logo.
There is no way youll get more than a few
openminded responses in here.
IMHO the royals > any xi although i still love xi's.
But the whole Jordan line beats pennies because of what
he did in them; 6 chips. If he wouldve lost every year
in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs we wouldnt care as much.

EXACTLY!
IF Penny had stayed healthy, his line might've ended up like AI, or Lebron(so far).....but IF he had won
(not necessarily 6) but at least 2-3 championships, he MIGHT have given MJ a RUN for his money, but
in terms of legacy, unless Penny would've came near the all-time greats, his sig line would've never compared

Bro, I think you're post is cool. Got to say Jordan had the advantage cause they had more shoes. But all in all its hard to say. I think if you wentback to the mid to late 90's when pennys were poppin, people would say that the pennys over the J's. However, over the test of time I think theJ's seem tighter. But between the Foams and Space jams I would say the Foams. However, if you were to ask Foams or Concord, Columbias or Breds I would gowith either of those over the Foams.
