Question about XIs

What up NT, okay, so I'm a fairly new collector...Been in it now for about 4 years now, so unfortunately I wasn't around for the magic of 2001 oranything like that...

I got a couple questions about XIs...the first pair I've been honored to own is the CDP 11s, because at least in Washington State, DMPs weren't veryeasy to get a hold of...I saw a guy I think playing for UConn I think it was wearing these 11s...I was just looking at my pair and a few questions popped intomy head....

1. How can someone play in these shoes when the ankle support looks to be non-existent?
2. Are just the CDP 11s flimsy in the ankle or are all 11s from 95/01 etc. like this?

And this last one being for fun...my favorite pair of shoes ever are Concord XIs..none of this Gold Jumpman DMP crap, but real Concords...do you guys forseethese being retro'ed again in your honest opinion...I know, the most common answer is "Time Will Tell"....but if you could make an educated guessabout it, should I wait for the next round, or bite the bullet and spend 450+ on a DS Retro pair......

One last thing, for educational purposes...I've never known the answer....Why are they called Concord 11s?

i don't think they're going as high as $450 these days. i think you could probably find a DS pair on ebay for around $250-$300.

1.) In my opinion, if XI's are laced up all the way to the top, they will probably have better ankle support than a lot of popular basketball shoes outright now.

2.) The CDP XI's are more flimsy in the ankle than the concords, but no XI's are going to be extremely rigid in the ankle, IF they are worn to play in.The leather ankle part will soften up and wear down eventually if they are played in.

Your last question: No one knows the answer to this. But I personally believe that every jordan will be retroed again over time. You just have to wait.

Edit: ^^^to the guy above me, if you can find DS legit concords on ebay for $250-$300....thats a pretty good buy

Theres no way in hell you'll find DS concords for $250-300. if you do, you better drop what you're doing, sell the dog AND the pinto, and buy them.Because you'll never see them again.

^there are rumors that they are coming in 2010 but we dont know if they are fusions or what not. and ya if you are dilligant you can find good prices for11's on ebay. i found a ds pair of 01 Columbias for 170 shipped

1 - i dont think the ankle support is that bad. besides, people also play in low top shoes, just depends on their preference/foot.

2 - the older ones might have been a little better, but it honestly wouldnt be a huge difference

3 - they will eventually retro again. might not be soon.

4 - because they are concord colored. at that time they were the only jordans to feature that color aside from the aquas (even if it was just on the sole). Itsays Concord right on the box. since aquas are aquas theres not much chance of confusion if you just say concords. black and white are a little less specific.

I've never personally known anyone who actually bought a pair of XIs to hoop in. Where I'm from this is more of an dress shoe (casual wear) than abasketball shoe.

i've had almost every pair of the 00/01 retro 11's and a OG pair of concords. (even low patents and the ie's). i also owned the disgustingdmp's. i also held in my hand the even more disgusting "cdps".

from my experience, the 00/01's were very comfortable. the zoom air was cushiony, the ankle support is probably not that bad, never really noticed. onlyproblem i sort of experienced was my pinky toe rubbing against the sturdy patent side when you walk and the shoe flexes. it wasn't too bad and only oncertain pairs though. however, the dmp's were even worse. very very uncomfortable, and i imagine the cdp will be even WORSE cause that shoe is just trash.i was surprised they managed to cut the patent down even more on already thinner patent than the retros and the og's. the materals also look like scrap anddefinately not a quality shoe made for basketball (ironic).

as for buying 00 concords, i definately think you should pick them up than a pair of crap dmp's. you will not be able to play basketball in them. also, ifyou do plan on playing ball in them which it sounds like you do, don't get a ds pair. get a slightly used and it'll be around 275-300. if you are luckymaybe even cheaper. and yes the concord name is from the blue part on the sole, which looks like concord grape color.

also if you are interested, the 04? pair of xi ie low's were one of the most comfortable, best summer shoe i ever owned. the vents let the air flow intoyour feet and the midsole is very cushiony. and since theres no patent, there's nothing to rub your pinky toe when the shoe flexes when you walk. let meknow if you have any other questions i can probablly answer them for you.

^

even og xi's are weak in the ankles.
Isnt that why iverson wore ankle braces with his concords??

don't see them releasing any time soon, as for the ? of why they are called "concords" it's because of the purple in the shoe

Thanks for the info guys.....and just to clear up the confusion, I would never hoop in a shoe like the Concords....couldn't do it I don'tthink....heck, even as a person who wears all of the shoes I buy (DS'ing is ridiculous), I still have trouble with some shoes and that would definitely beone of them....

For all AJ11 scholars, what does the "I.E." stand for in the AJ11 I.E. low? No one seems to know the answer. No, the answer is not Internet Exploreror Inland Empire.

^ It doesnt stand for anyhing. Its a color code.

Theyre called Concords because theyre purple traction pods and Jumpman on the tongue. Fruity if you ask me...

XI's dont have the best ankle support. CDP, OG, Retro, DMP...all average ankle support.

there's a lot better technology out now that is less expensive (and has less hype) that you can buy. why worry about playing basketball in old technologywhen you can get hyperdunks or lebrons or whatever for a lot less and odds are they are better for basketball? that's just my opinion.

Yea, the ankle support of the XIs are the best at all, but i used to wear ankle braces with my 01s and they were straight. You also have to remember thatpeople that play college/NBA get there ankles tape so they can get away with wearing a shoe that has subpar/average ankle support.
