DOOM is an acquired taste, IMO. I've found that most the people who don't feel him aren't really into that type of hip-hop anyways. They just heardpeople raving about him on message boards like NT, check him out and are immediately put off.
I didn't really like him much at first, but after hearing him all the time around my homie who DJs at a college radio station, I became a fan. But thenagain, I've always been a fan of that obscure, random, "different" hip-hop.
People get too wrapped up in the mask and comic book references. At the end of the day, the guy brings something different to the table, and easily is morecomplex and clever than 90% of rappers out now. But most people won't get past the persona, which is their choice.
And since when does age matter? It doesn't.

He had a great career, but he's done (at least in my eyes.) All that Adult Swim/Dangermouse bull %@*% was lame as +$@+. Madvillainy 2 is never dropping andneither is that collab with Ghostface.
I'll always appreciate Operation: Doomsday! and Madvillainy, though.

I dare say that now, anyone who actually pays for a DOOM show is a flat out idiot.
And honestly, the word had been out for a minute that he wasn't the guy on stage and these fools STILL threw down their loot for a show.
I like the guy, but I'm not that much of a stan.

I'm starting to think he's not all there in the head. The whole villain/madvillainy/super villan thing has either gone to his head or he's pushingit to its limits to see where it will get him...and I wouldn't be surprised if Mccain listens to his music

by the way I'm a doom fan and listen to him heavily...NT put me on back in 03...and a lot of the hate/arguments in this thread are fueled by onetruth...dudes are just to narrow minded to broaden that horizon and give something else a chance. Its cool if you can live by the club songs and mainstreammusic, but don't bash a group who can relate or takes liking to something that's "out of the ordinary" just because you can't get withit. I can guarantee everyone in this thread, or on this board for that matter, has some artists/genres/songs they like that others of us wouldn't be caughtdead listening to. That's why music is such a beautiful thing...no matter what genre or song, its never going to be for everyone, so if you can'tappreciate it then leave it alone.

I like Doom and I think he's far from wack but there's no way he can try and rationalize not showing up to his shows. He (and any other rapper) wouldbe nothing without the fans and to basically con them out of a performance is garbage
