Just got back from their show in NYC. I think everyone should go see these guys at least once, the experience is wild.

Silent Alarm is a great all around album too. These guys are definitely appreciated always, but tonight just solidified it for me.

My favorite album. One of my favorite bands.
I'm gonna try and see them when they come out to Portland. $25 is too good to pass up.

Is their latest album any good? I never really got around to listening to it.

Their last album is amazing, in my opinion. I've listened to "Flux" like 12,000 times.

"Signs" and "Your VisitsAre Getting Shorter" are my two other favorites.

I haven't gotten a chance to see them live yet.

I love Bloc Party, I saw them back in Oct. '07 and I'm going to see them tonight.

OP I assume you saw them at Terminal 5, correct? What was the setlist like? A lot of "Intimacy" or was it mixed. I know they probably played"Banquet" as that's their signature song.

Like the majority of you I believe "Silent Alarm" is their best work, but that's not to take away from "A Weekend In The City," whichhad some really good tracks, "Hunting For Witches" and "Waiting For The 7:18" are my faves.

"Intimacy" has some good tracks as well, I LOVE the guitar solo on "Halo."

I'm going to take a picture of the setlist when I get around my camera, since I was handed one from the stage (Yes Bragging).

But last nights set was pretty mixed, it was cool. The opener (Longwave) is pretty sick as well. I'd never heard of them but I'll definitely bechecking them out now.

When Helicopter came on the place went absolutely bananas. The whole show was just amazing, and Terminal 5 is a great venue. This guy Kele climbed up thespeaker on to the second level and was walking around in the crowd up there, it was awesome.

Nice. When I saw them in '07 Kele started running up and down the aisles at the Theater @ MSG.

One last question does Terminal 5 have a coat check?

You know I'm honestly not sure. I heard people in line asking the same question. All the times I've been there I've basically rushed to the frontso I haven't seen much, but I would think that they do? Not 100% though.

Ok
The 1st time was 2nd semester Senior year and this is when I just found out about them (The OC Season 3 Episode 1
pimp.gif
) so Tickets were sold out and I was sad but I found 2 tickets for 50 bucks eachon Craigslist. I had other friends going and I didn't drive so I needed them to take me. So I was going to buy both tickets for me and my homie since hegave me money but my other friends said nah g we don't have room in the car for 2. So I decided not to be selfish.

The 2nd time was LA Weekly Detour Festival (Bloc Party, Justice, Cool Kids, Moving Units, etc for $30) My friends told me about so it was going to be 4 of us.I started talking to this one girl who was really interested so I asked my friends hey you sure you guys are going and they said yeah. So she went ahead andbought the tickets. Saturday comes conceert starts at 12. I call them at 11 and say Hey you still going right? 2 of em say sorry man I gotta save money and theother one got tickets to a USC game. I was distraught then I found someone last minute who wanted to go. So it would be me him and her. Then when we'redriving to pick her up he says Oh yeah I got to be home by 10 so we gotta leave at 9. And I'm like what? That's the middle of Moving Units set. Andwe'd miss Justice and BP and it's already 5 so we missed Cool Kids and Flosstramadus. And he's like yeah sorry and I'm like whatever I feel badfor the girl so let's go then after that he goes well now I don't want to go cause that's early. SMH

Now I finally got a car so my days of missing Bloc Party are over. So I thought. They have a show at the Glasshouse with Does It Offend You, Yeah opening soI'm extra excited. So we're at my friends house and we're all pregaming except the DD. And then we get super f'd up. Then right before we leavethe DD's mom calls him and I forget why but he couldn't go. So he drives home so we're all trying to sober up to see the show and it isn'tworking. Bloc Party goes on 1030-11 so one of us finally gets sober enough by 11 drives there then SOLD OUT.

Then the most recent heartbreak hurt the most. I see the show at Grove in Anaheim. And that's it no one is stopping me I'm buying the ticket now andthat's finally. Then when I'm talking about the show my homie's girl at the time was like oh my friend works there he can get us VIP passes. SoI'm like ok then so the week before she calls and he says yeah he can get us 4. But the thing is she didn't tell me but she's good friends withsomeone who works for the Grove. So she doesn't even know the guy. So the day of I'm excited and I call my other friend whose going and she asks me ifso and so is going. I call them and they say "damn i didnt know I'm down" and he goes to the website and goes damn sold out and I'm likesorry. So it's getting closer and closer it's 5 and I haven't heard from my homies girl then finally at 6 (doors open at 7 we live 30 mins awayplus traffic) She calls me like yeah Im just waiting on him to get out of work. And I'm like umm doesnt he work at the grove? And she's like no hisbest friend does. And I'm like why can't we just get the tickets and she's like their not ours theyre his because he's going to. Time goes bymore and more then 8pm rolls around and I'm just stunned like Woooooow again? And I fell asleep sad as hell and then to make things worse even though shehad good intentions , my other friend calls me from the show when Banquet comes on and I'm just laying on the bed sad as hell.

But whatever this time I bought 2 tickets to the show in my hand no will call and I said someone will buy this ticket off me or I will give someone a freeticket to go with me. I WILL NOT MISS MY FAVORITE BAND! And I like the band opening for them, Menomena (sp). So yeah that is the tragedy of my life.

I've seen them a couple times live and they're amazing. If you guys get a chance, try and meet them also, they're really cool dudes, really normalpeople to be honest. I've hung out with them, gotten pictures with them, have my 12" Flux signed etc. and not once have they complained about theirstatus. Good people. I can't pick a favorite album to be honest, I absolutely loved Intimacy but Silent Alarm and Weekend In the City are incredible.

I have no idea if you guys have been to London or not, or even England, but A Weekend In the City relates so much to it and has a number of references to it,and since I've lived in London for a year and a half of my life I can relate to it but...if you ever get to London, listen to it I guess

Just getting home for today's show.

Show was awesome!!!! The setlist was all over the place. Songs from all their albums.

Kele said tonight's crowd was better than last night's.

Kele also body surfed for a while before being dragged on back to the stage.

Banquet, Halo, Ares, Mecury, Like Eating Glass, Helicopters, Hunting For Witches got the biggest ovations.

ScottHallWithAPick that's some made for TV movie drama right there. The only time I missed out on one of their shows was last summer whenthey performed at Webster Hall(club in NY) but this more than made up for it.

I'm glad to see there are others that actually liked the new album too

Granted it's not as good as their previous works, they have some really greatsongs on this one. I like Ion Square, Halo, and Flux the most.

That looks like it was dope as all hell.

And OMG, I just went on their MySpace page to check tour dates and they're coming to St. Louis in 5 days...

I MUST try to get tickets.

I've watched all sorts of YouTube vids of their shows, and I've been waiting for this opportunity.

That looks like it was awesome. If the crowd was liver than the first night I don't know how Terminal 5 exists anymore.
laugh.gif

The more I listen to them the more Matt impresses me with his drumming.

He said the crowd on the floor had crazy energy. He was getting at the fans on the balcony though for being too quiet but after that they started cheeringmore. I don't know about their drummer, maybe it's because I listen to a lot of TMV but I find him to be pretty average.
