Yea joint sounded crazy live....I was hype and a little upset that he had to tease us like that....cant wait for the whole thing though
 
I was second row for that show also...Lupe was definitely on some crazy drugs, but he was preety amazing...This song was crazy, everyone went crazy when heplayed it and got pissed that he only teased us with such a short snippet...I was trying to find it online afterwards with no success...can't wait for thenew CD
 
Lupe is my dude and all that but he got to stop it wit all these overdramatic singing chorus...the $#+@ ends up sounding sooo cheesy....

He does this with almost all of his songs...
and its not like he can't write a chorus wit out all the dramatics(go go gadget flow, Paris Tokyo, Dumb it Down)
Singing in hip hop is like using slow motion in a movie...using just the right amount can be extremely effective(raging bull)
BUT when you use to much of it comes off looking so corny( see Pearl Harbor...or any Michael Bay movie)
 
I understand what you are saying...

I feel some of the songs you listed that are considered dramatic are some of peoples most favorite songs. I think he has a good combination of both. Superstaris his most popular song to the mainstream audience, and that had a dramatic chorus according to you, so of course he would follow a similar formula even if"shining down" has the lollipop melody lol
