Jordan "Melo" M5 Green Week Edition (Pic)

At the end of the day, making a "green" shoe is really an insincere slap in the face if they aren't using environmentally friendly materials andproduction techniques.

From the looks of it, this shoe may not use animal products - since most of what they call "patent leather" these days is a plastic coated syntheticmaterial and the embroidered panels look like fabric - which is a start, but they're still likely using toxic adhesives and they ought to be using biobasedplastics made from plants, not petroleum.

If all they did is to take the existing shoe and color it green, that's the epitome of hollow, cynical marketing and anyone with a speck of socialresponsibility at the brand ought to be deeply ashamed of it.

Yeah.. I would agree this is a piss poor attempt at awareness. They might as well have combined some awareness with St. Pattys day Jerseys or something...

Gimmicks are never good for awareness genuine awareness. But leave this on Marketing.

Really... you think what I said has something to do with Carmelo Anthony? Wow.

I'd be stunned if he has anything to do with those shoes, so how is questioning the sincerity of their "green" shoe disparaging Carmelo Anthonyas a person or player? The endorser has nothing to do with my criticism.
If you're gonna market a shoe as "eco-friendly," you'd better do a little more than simply paint it green. It's like releasing mink coatthat says "fur is murder."

I actually like the M5 and that colorway. I want more green colored shoes.
Like kelly green and forest green.

You did quote my reply before making your comment - so I'm sure you can understand why I got that impression.

As for being "riled up," I'd rather care about something like environmental sustainability than another man's reputation. While they hateyou're upset about is indeed pointless, this isn't.

Whether Carmelo Anthony is more popular than Lebron James is a little less important in the grand scheme of things than the health of the planet that sustainsall of us. It's not about hugging trees, either: pollution harms poor people more than anyone, as the poor are forced to work in and live near toxicproduction facilities.
