THIS DECADE'S FACE OF HIP-HOP?

I was originally going with Hov, but after further thought, IMO Kanye West is this decade's face of hip-hop.

College Dropout/Late Registration are arguably the greatest hip-hop albums of this decade, both appealing to hip-hop heads and the mainstream market.

No one has a more consistent discography then him, 00-present.

Prove me wrong...

Anyway, the answer is Vinnie Paz. Best album of this decade hands down, followed by multiple classics since. It's like this: 80's: Steady B 90's:Kool G Rap 00's: Vinnie Paz

Easily Jay.

He's all over the media, far more then kanye. (not just gossip blogs, but financial magazines, foreign media, mainstream media, EVERYWHERE) You guys justseem to only remember kanye (hmm..I wonder why....)

He owns this decade in hip hop. kanyes music changed the game this decade you say? whos label was that on? who signed one of the largest concert deals ever?

The Dynasty: Roc La Familia (2000)
The Blueprint²: The Gift & the Curse (2002)
The Black Album (2003)
Collision Course (2004)
Kingdom Come (2006) (680,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, jays biggest sales week ever)
American Gangster (2007)
Glastonbury

Please. Wayne? Kanye?

*Edit. I will say that Ye is inches away though. I can't argue that.

I already mentioned the Blueprint, Kanye's legacy is tied in that just as much as Jay...Ye has had a bigger impact this decade than Jay...Jay had it forabout a decade in collective years, but not completely this decade.

Jay had it from from when Biggie died to The Black Album, (which is what, 03-04?), then retired...everything after that has just been "Jordan on theWizards"@$%. He's already a legend, but now he's just playing just to play...

I'd say Kanye more than Jay.

For some reason, I think of Jay as more of a 90s guy. He's been subpar to me since The Black Album.

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that Kanye had a lot to do with The Blueprint's success.

I wanna go with Marshall but I can't say that he held down the entire decade which is the question at hand right???

Honestly I would have to go with Ye...no %+#+ riding but dude has got to be the face of the decade....

Look at what the man has done for music...early on with Jesus Walks and Through the Wire...then he hit us with Drive Slow and Roses...then with Stronger and IWonder and then the 808 @!%%..

I mean come on ya'll u can't knock Ye at all he consistently puts out fire and that's if he's not all over the place with features and/orproducing tracks for unknown artists who turn out to be huge i.e. Keyshia Cole and Estelle...

or just straight producing tracks for everybody dude is a workhorse

IMO if there was a face for Hip-Hop in the last decade it would look like this......

Jay-Z and Nas were the faces of Hip-Hop for awhile but right now in the new Millennium it's gotta be Ye...

Wayne had a few strong years now but not a full decade....I really sat here and weighed all my options before posting and Mr. West stands out the most tome

Jay-z by far, but Kanye and Lil Wayne are shifting hip hop to the next generation, they will e the next Jay and Biggie. but even still Wale and Cudi are goingto be the young wayne and 'ye, hip hop is crazy right now for all those that are really into it.

A lot of dudes are sayin it's JAY.. come on! STOP ALL THAT.. Don't get me wrong... he's dope and all that but the fact of the matter is (like it ornot) 50, Eminem and that whole camp are the first people i think of. NOT because they are good... but because they always know how to keep a presence.. thereis ALWAYS someone from that camp dropping or doing big things..
Now.. With that said THE LOX is STILL the hardest group out, and i'm dying to see a BAD BOY: Ten years later album think about the roster..

i would've said em too if he didn't go on a 5 year hiatus... but IMO it's kanye kids follow his style, music, and they look out for anything thathas kanye's name on it.

Him & Just Blaze pretty much changed what you thought was a "good" beat with the Blueprint, produced a string of classics afterwards (from #1 Hit Singles to backpack rap classics), carried that to CD, which is the best album since it dropped. He's definitely the most outspoken & controversial, talked about from outside of the rap world, etc. His span ranges from '01-to-now...
