Computer Heads: Should I Cop This PC? vol. Gaming Computer

That looks good though i cant tell you if its overpriced or not. The first thing that hits me is why so much ram when they could use that money for a bettervideo card? Iwould recommend you build your own but if you dont know much about hardware and it breaks your screwed.

Word, and that's probably really excessive for what you'll be doing with it. What are you trying to play?

I haven't played a lot of games since I've never had the PC to do it. I've played some, but the performance was sub par (I have a vaio laptop), andI haven't been keeping up with new games because there was no point. Some of the games I'm looking to play (I know some are old and do not necessitatea new PC, but just listing em):
-CS
-TFC 2
-IL-Sturmovik 1946
-Diablo 2 & 3
-NHL 20xx
-NBA 20xx
-Starcraft 1 & 2

That's excessive for what you're trying to play. Check for PCs around $1,000 or consider learning how to build one. It's fun and you gain knowledgefrom it. Make sure you get a nice 22" monitor to go with it too. Samsung makes good ones.

As long as it takes you to order all the parst. For a beginner, it shouldnt take you more than 3 hours to put it all together and get it working.

Yeah, BF1942 would be something I wanna get into too maybe. Keep in mind that the price is in Canadian dollars, if that matters. If it's a wise investment, would it be worth it to get it anyway, so it would be able to run more demanding games in the future? I read some reviews on that comp, and they said that ifyou got each part individually, they would add up to more than the computer is selling for. Not sure if that's true, though. And I'm def gonna get a22" for it.

I'm not sure about Canadian money then. Specs are decent though. Too much RAM (if there's such thing) in my opinion. You play Star Craft? Youshould be able to play with what you already have. I was just about to get a game of Brood War in before I go to sleep...

You should build instead. It pretty easy once you read up on it. What's your budget? $1500 CAD can get you a very nice computer.

I know I can play SC 1 on it (lol), but I just wanted to throw that out there to show how long it's been since I've gamed. But since I'm donefinals in a couple weeks, I figure I'll have a lot of free time so might as well become a gamer again. Mostly, I want the comp for CS, TF2, IL-2, D3, SC2,and Hockey/Basketball. I'll check out more games once I find out about them. I'm more into multiplayer games, rather than single player storylines forFPS or things like that.

Build ur own and get a 500gb hdd w/ 4gb of ram and a min Core II Duo processor. U could build a nice one for under $1000 and u'll feel a sense ofaccomplishment

just get a good pc and upgrade the video card. most pcs now come with enough memory/gb etc to play the newest games, you just need a good video card or SLI tohold up.

Dude, ncix.com.. you're from Vancouver so just hop into any one of the stores and ask for help. A gaming system should always be custom built.

I built my duo system a couple years ago and it was a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend building your own. Im playing FEAR 2 with no issues, as long asyou get quality parts your machine can last you a couple months! Haha no seriously though I can play all the new games no prob so build something nice now andyoull be able to game for a long time.

Hmmm, I guess I'll look into building my own. I just have a fear of screwing something up. Haha. Seems kind of overwhelming though. Can anyone give me arundown of the best brand of parts? Or somewhere where I could find this info?

Go to an ncix store in town (check out ncix.com). They've got weekly deals. Just wait for the Easter specials next week.
