overall the RX8 is a great car but it lacks torque in every which way possible, it's fast once it gets going but that takes a while

Bought June 2007

traded for this Dec. 2007

I bought a brand new one in 2004 and still have it as an everyday driver. Its a great car but it has drawbacks. If you're at all in to 0-60 times orstoplight racing, don't bother. Low end torque is non existant. Dont get me wrong, there is plenty of power there but the rotary delivers it moregradually than american muscle cars and not all at the bottom end.. Its nice to have the room in the back seat if you need it. Gas mileage is horrible (andthats being generous). The car was designed to be a drivers car with power, handling, roominess and fun to drive factor all in one lightweight package. If youwant more torque, you may look at the 350z, which really isn't much faster overall, but will deliver a lot more low end power. Also the brand new 370z isby far the best z to date with around 330 hp, tons of torque and now has handling up to par with the rx-8. Only drawback of the z is its only a two seater, but MPG is better than the 8 and it is also getting a bit pricey. Close to 40k loaded.

Mazda is also working on a new 1.6 liter direct injection rotary for the next rotary car which will supposedly deliver between 275-300hp, a lot more torque andmuch better gas mileage. I'm a little disappointed Mazda couldn't address the power issue a little quicker, but since they are the only company withthe rotary, they are on their own as far as technology and breakthroughs for this engine, so it will take awhile. ETA is apparently around 2012.

I'd test drive both before making any decision if I were you and decide for yourself. Used ones can be had at pretty good prices these days.

2nd generation 300ZX is the best Z by far

i mean id just rather get an 04 or 05 RX8 with 50 K miles for 11-13 Gz compared to a 03 or 04 350Z with 70k at 14 Gz.

Rx7 if you're looking at Mazdas.

I'd say go for the 350. It's the better of the two cars.

RX7 was never meant as a daily driver, the RX8 was...With that said, the car pretty much sucks. Lacks power and is a hidden gas guzzler. I think the mainreason the car was popular was the way the doors opened, and how it was in X-Men. I would look at used (04)STI-s or a WRX( 02-06) since its a great car andAWD. How old are you too? Insurance will play a major factor on what car you get.

From the two choices, get the 350Z. I really like the car, just hate the cabin because of the poor blindspots and its a two seater.

i got an 04 rx-8 as a daily. handles great, no power, some people like the looks, some hate it. its really up to you and what kind of car you want. ifyou're in cali im sellin mine this summer.

ignore the rx-7, if starter coupe is what you're looking for, the rx-7 is gonna be wayyyyy too much for you

am i the only one who really hates this car.. its not even fast lol

get an S2K.
S2k is not a bad pick either, its just really tiny inside. If you are tall, this is probally a car to avoide. It's a great fun car to drive, but I would still choose the 350Z because of the torque it has and the bigger cabin(oh, it also feels a bit safer). Oh btw, I hate the G35 with the utmostpassion as well. The 350 Z is the best choice because its the same engine as the G35, only difference is price.
