same way you can be born with blue eyes? same way you were born straight? growing up around only a certain sex doesn't determine who you're going to beattracted too.

Huh its a gay guy interviewing a cardinal player. what does that have to do with anything?
Dr. Drew has said the feminine voice come from homosexuals that were born gay as oppose to those that "turn" gay

I remeber hearing its because in the womb the fetus gets a overdose of estrogen which leads to homosexuality. They did it on rats and it worked

Being born with a certain eye color and having a sexual orientation are two different things. One is an intrinsic trait and the other isextrinsic. You're not born gay or straight. A baby has blue eyes, but it does not know who it wants to be with later on in life.

All of that happens after birth.

so you're telling me you had all the say over what sex you were attracted to? can you honestly tell me you could convince yourself to like men then (if youdon't already do, or are a chick)? i don't remember sitting down and thinking of the pros and cons of being straight or gay. you can front all you wantand try to lie to yourself about who u want to be.. but sooner or later the real you eventually comes out.

Actually I never said that.

However, I do believe that your environment (everything outside of you) plays a major role.

^Pretty much the "nature vs nurture/combo" argument.

Some say it's prior abuse as a child that shapes what you are attracted to

more recent studies veer away from the classical conditioning argument.

From what iv'e read, as well as my own opinion, it seems that people are gay for the same reason you are straight. simply just sexual preference.

Our behavior is constantly being shaped. At every moment in our lives we respond to different stimuli and emit different behavior. That behavioris constantly being reinforced or punished.

For some, the sight of the same sex is more reinforcing than the other sex. Hence, they'll continue to look at the same sex. This may cause otherbehavior to be shaped, like infatuation and a possible relationship.

However, society thinks that men should be with women and vice versa. This punishes the behavior of liking the same sex. It will make it less likely tooccur.

If you think about it, back in the olden days a lot of people liked the same sex, but kept it hush hush. Nowadays, in our progressive society, it isn't asshunned upon. I can bet that there are a lot of people on this board who like the same sex, but are avoiding the subsequent ostracization by friends andfamily.

It's just how it is.

not all the beatings in the world will change your true preference. i dont buy the whole "you were shaped into being gay" argument. but thanks forresponding.

Nah. You have no say in what you like. It just happens man. That's why I don't knock on them.

I never said as an absolute being around the opposite sex makes you gay. Comprehension people. My argument was that environment shapes your judgements andbehaviors, which is to say it's not genetic. It's just that "something" that has happened to you in your life, caused you to like boyssubconsciously. It's not something where one day you had to decide, "penis or vajai," but it's formed the same way everything else in yourmind is. And the same experiences can affect everybody in different ways, so again I'd never say anything is absolute.

But all the studies trying to "prove" it to be genetic, haven't been the least bit convincing. You start telling me kids are going to be gaywhile they're in the womb, and if it proves true 15 yrs later, I'll say you're right.

Dudes how disappoint will you be as a father if you have a gay son?

PLease save the, "OH I will love him regardless" answer

I am not asking if you will love him, I am asking you how disappointed would you be

what exactly would disappoint u about your son being gay? what about a lesbian daughter?

She may like women, but she's a good person.

She's cool in my book.

And if my son or daughter were gay, that wouldn't affect my love for them.

how about you answer the question.. and to make it more fun.. don't bring up religion.
