Rodents Shut Down Popular Restaurant In New York City (Manhattan)

While serendipity may be the art of finding pleasant things by chance, what health inspectors found at celebrated eatery Serendipity 3 was not very agreeable.

Officials closed the restaurant Wednesday night after it failed its second inspection in a month. An inspector spotted a live mouse and mouse droppings, fruit flies, house flies and more than 100 live cockroaches.

"Both inspections revealed rodent and fly infestation and conditions conducive to pest infestation, including stagnant water in the basement," the department said.

People stand in line for hours outside the Manhattan restaurant, known for its extravagant and expensive desserts. Its $25,000 Frrrozen Haute Chocolate features top-grade cocoa, edible gold and shavings of a luxury truffle and was declared the most expensive dessert in the world by Guinness World Records. The eatery also offers a $1,000 sundae named Golden Opulence requiring 48-hour advance notice.

That's insane, my girl has been fiend out for me to take her there. Guess i can't no more but, thats disgusting, i would think they would be more clean especially with all the money they make.

when i was in harlem Visting like 2 years ago - me and moms was dining at this restaurant while waiting for the rest of my fam so we could all meet up and goto manhattan - Basically my moms was starvingand we decided to eat at this shady place - she ordered a cesar salad at first and when dude brought it, there wasa dead fly in there

the whole time-- and then this old waiter dude comes up with a broken english and tell'sher it is ok to eat it AFTER he put his hand in the damn salad to pick out the fly lol lol lol. I sware we taught we were being punk'd or something lol--We run out of the place so fast hahah. Oh memories..
 
I ate the Frozen Hot Chocolate there with my girl and I was wondering why the chocolate sprinkles were extra bitter

I was at one and this cockroach crawled onto the table right next to us.

The funny part is that the most expensive restaurants in the city get the worst scores on their inspections.
I've grown up in the New York City restaurant business. It's disgusting.

Serendipity messes with the high-end customer.
The little classy grandma's with their feathers in their hats won't be happy to know about this.
