Bishop Lamont has been released or dropped from Aftermath Records, the label founded by Dr. Dre.

At press time, the reason for the severance was unknown, but the separation occurred Thursday or Friday, according to sources.

While there is significant speculation, insiders said that Lamont did not see the move coming.

There as been no statement or official response from Lamont, Dr. Dre or Aftermath.

Bishop Lamont, real name Phillip Martin, signed to Dre's Aftermath Records in 2005 after meeting the iconic producer in the set of a video shoot. Lamont had been one of Dr. Dre's most ardent supporters and often served as the reclusive producer's mouthpiece.

Lamont does not presently have a recording home, but rumors have already begun to circulate that he has been courted by 50 Cent and his G-Unit Records. There has been nothing to substantiate those rumors at press time.

Damn that sucks, he was a good MC.. I'm gonna miss hearing him over Dre beats. But Gunit would be a good home for him.

Joel and Bishop. Whats good with Dre and these old heads in general?

They not helping the young cats carry on this Hip-Hop thing properly at all...

%*%%...dude was ridin harder for Dre than anybody on Aftermath too, I thought dude was safe. I guess the only untouchables are in 50 & Em'scamp...damn.

Dude nice as hell tho. That Cal-Troit album, banger (and that 'Grow Up' track Dre produced)...

Damn. I hope we get to hear him over the Dre beats he has recorded already. He got skills on the mic.

Damn.
I figuired he was signed to write for Detox... Basically what they signed Game for 5 or 6 years ago... I don't think that album is ever comin out... Idon't understand what Dre is tryin to do with this Aftermath label

^he was/is one of the ghostwriters for that album, he'll still get a check if it ever drop (Joell Ortiz too).

And thats Jimmy I. dropping them rappers off the label, not Dre. Dre wanted to keep Ortiz. He wanted to keep Stat Quo, all them dudes. Its a dumb move too, cuzNipsey Hussle (and Jay Rock) about to blow. They couldve just had him piggyback off that wave + him being on Dextox.

If Wale dont get no singles to pop....shiiiiittttt, boy better keep his eyes open. Interscope aint that label...

Honestly, I don't have any sympathy for any up-and-coming emcee who signs to Aftermath.

Do your homework. Anyone with half a brain can recognize that there's a 5% chance that you'll drop an album on Aftermath.

Being able to work with a legend like Dre is probably pretty alluring, but damn sometimes you gotta think.

Damn whats gonna happen to Detox??
Isn't he supposed to be the snoop of that alum....

Ehh....I disagree. Your telling me if you're an upcoming artist and they throw you an Aftermath contract, you'll turn it down? Regardlessof what happens to most artist, being in that situation is completely different.

this was just a rumor started by dj vlad cuz he was salty that dude wouldn't do an interview for him he has a video on nahright saying that he's stillaftermath

QFE.

I hope its a rumor... I can deffinetly see West Coast making a serious comeback in the near future, its some good artists that's supposed to be droppinalbums...

But @ the same time its not just Dre, it seems like the biggest producers aren't the best at bringin out their artists...

Pharrell with Slim Thug, his #%## aint pop, Fam-Lay I don't know what he's doin, Roscoe P (is he locked up?)... Prolly some other cats.

Just Blaze - Saigon, I don't know what the deal is with that project.

Timbaland - John D.O.E.

Kanye West - GLC, Really Doe, Mr Bently

, whoever else is on that label

I think the expectations are too high as far as what the labels expects to see sales wise... The success of the producers in the past just set such a highbar...

i remember in 2007 you couldnt come into the nt music forum with out a bishop lamont post on every other page

Maybe he was the one leaking all those Detox songs and was trying to blame someone else.
