ok... so the manager asks me for answers..

Man I'm glad the threadstarter decided to post about this. I have been wanting to fume out about this ridiculous behavior I've experienced from manydifferent shoe retailers lately. Seems like they hire a bunch of knuckleheads just trying to earn a paycheck rather than hiring people who know what they areselling. Just last week I walked into a Footaction, young kid walks up to me and greets me asking if I want anything. I ask him about the Griffeys and he has ablank stare on his face like "*%%?". He then proceeds to point at random shoes and says, "if you like any of these just let me know". Screwyou pal, I walked outta there and headed to another retailer. Freaking cookie cutter farm girl working there knew more crap about shoes than any of these youngbucks I seen at Footlocker, Footaction, Champs, etc. She even mentioned the DMP 2 package and talked about the red Suede 5's and the 3Ms. That's theonly employee lately who has a clue of what's going on, get with the program folks, learn about what your selling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^

- I walked into Footlocker last week and ask will they be getting the DMP II and they all gave me the

- Footlocker needs to hired me yo.

lol hes a manager.. im sure more than half the employees that work at shoe stores are not shoe heads. they are just there for the paycheck to get on withlife..

MY FIRST JOB IS GONNA CHAMPS OR FINSIHLINE AND ME AND MY BOY, I walked into finishline the other day and there was a guy who was a collector and he workedthere, the people is Seattle always know whats goin on with the shoes. The guy told me his fav pair were alititude 13's, I know where it is at.

ya every employee had a shoe store ive went to are useless when it comes to shoe info..theres a hole in the wall shoe store, those dudes know whats up, butthats about it.

i just put a application in at foot locker...if they no whats good for them, they'll hire me

Finishline is known to hire COMPLETE MORON'S as managers, I do not know where they get these people, but most of them look like imbred hicks from the movie"the hills have eyes".

A manager's job is to manage stock, displays, employees etc. Not to be a sneakerhead. I'm an FL employee and 90% of people workin where I'm fromknow nothing about sneakers when they start, some eventually get into em and some just think of it as a job. Work and personal interest aren't the samething for most people.

i'd cut my man some slack - i'm not sure that not everyone that works at a sneaker store is a sneakerhead...

They don't know nada until their trying to get you to buy something. Then, they turn into a sneaker encyclopedia.

Simon... I walked into footlocker and my boy theres a manager so the assistant manager was on the spot and i acted like ididnt know about shoes ..
He told the the trail blazer 6rings were Chicago 6 rings .. I busted out LMAO

Same way at my store (champs), if anyone comes in asking about shoes they automaticaly look at me expecting me to know.

Not ALL the managers are complete morons.
I can not speak for Finishline (however, I know the Finishline in our mall has gone through a plethora of managers since my time at Foot Locker) but I know fora fact there are a few sneakerheads at my store.

I'm the assistant manager out here in Pittsburgh for a Foot Locker, and I am more then welcome to feed my employees knowledge about shoes, for the sheerfear that this could happen to them. A local sneakerhead could walk in talking about something coming out, something in the past and they look dumbfounded. Imake sure my employees TRY to know as much as I do about upcoming releases. I'll go as far as bringing in my laptop and bookmarking threads here atNikeTalk and Sneakerfiles.com

Also, if you're a sneakerhead, test the waters at your local retail shops. If a guy comes in who knows his stuff, complains about the right things and whatnot, i'm much more willing to help you out by saving you a release date shoe or giving you a nice "coupon" of sorts when you come in.

So, if you're in the Pittsburgh area, come in and say hi. I'll be glad to talk to you for a while. ha.

Give the Guy a break about not knowing everything about everything. If he wants to know some info he can always come to you since you are the sneakerhead.. Hestrying to make a living leave him alone..Plus isnt he your bro? Y u dissin him??

most of the employee's where i live know whats going down about releases. especially when they see you rocking some heat, they always give complimentsabout it.

Have you ever read Niketalk? As a FNL manager, Idon't know how many NTers I would hire just because they read about sneakers on the internet.

Around my way employees know next to nothing. I'm used to going into stores and telling them about what they sell. I don't mean to be a d!ck about it,but when I go into a store and ask for a shoe on RD and they tell me that that particular shoe doesn't release today or they look at me like

I get a little

I totally agree. I actually fall in that category b/c I work for footlocker and I try to educate some of the people that come through. Butit's hard when you're dealing with just straight ignorant and ghetto people.

true story, funni tho when u kno way more than they do n they talk down to you like your the dumb one, straight custy status.

Pro: they know what they're selling
Con: if they knew what they were selling, they would keep the best sizes for themselves
