On your way from Bozeman to Cleveland, stop by Minneapolis.

Not only is Downtown pretty legit, but from Downtown you can catch the lightrail to the Mall of America (the biggest mall in America.) You can do a bunch ofshopping, see a movie, or just walk around and chill.

Then, go to Chicago and check out their Downtown scene. They don't have the biggest mall of America, but the shopping strips there are nice. Overpriced, but nice.

Hope this helps man. You might even want to skip Bozeman completely. Montana is boring, my dude.

many thanks for the imput! I've considered both cities and probably will end up hitting them in the end.

PS the stop in Bozeman is simply for some rest at a relative's place (see Tuscon and Augusta)

I second that motion.

I have been planning a similar trip, from NC. Definitely wasn't planning on that many days, but somewhere around 3-4 weeks. I have been up and down theeast coast and throughout the south east, but really need to get away.

You can't go all the way to Portland and not go the 2 hours further to Seattle. That would be a big mistake. Seattle is awesome in the Summer.

How bout New Orleans, Houston then Dallas. N.O. to Htown is about 5 hrs, Htown to da Big D is 3.5hrs. Plus you can stay on major highways. U gotta stop thruHtown though
