Why is male RNB so much better than female RNB?

I have a few theories on why it is but I want to know what ya'll think. To me its really not even close. Female RNB sucks for the most-part.

Female RNB is all about how women tried them or whatever. Male RNB is about how we smash chickens and what not.

G you're right but... SWV has some bangers, I'm in the process of putting together a list for a mix right now

I have a number of theories myself. I'll give one for right now:
We relate more to what male singers say (as a result of us being men). Men think completely different (logical) then women (emotional). We understand whatmale singers are trying to convey especially when it is something emotional, (men are emotional we just dont express it the way women would like or as freelyas women (often times due to fear of being ostracized

). Excellentquestion....im sure you'll get a lot of wack answers.

Ha yeah that's a small part of it. Personally I think women are so in tune with their emotions that they don't have to express it throughsong. When they do sometimes it becomes generic. Women sing about love but a lot of the time it sounds empty, and even worse jaded. I can't listen to anentire MJB album. I won't even give Keisha Cole a chance. Also you gotta think about the audience they cater to. Imo women rnb artists cater to a 90%female audience, with that other 10% being male (5% of which are prolly gay lol). While on the other hand male rnb artists make songs that are accessible tomen and women almost equally. Could you imagine a male rnb artist with a male equivalent song of A. Key's Superwoman or any of Beyonce's independentwoman songs lol. Hell no! Male rnb artists express emotions that men normally don't get to so a lot of the time its much rawer and realer. Hell the bestsongwriters are male for a reason, we got all that pent up emotion to let out.

You know something wrong if you gotta go that far back fam lol. But even back then the men had it on smash. Word to Jodeci, New Edition, etc.

I think a lot of the newer chicks trump their hand by trying to please bitter women as well as those who want to hear about love b/c at the same time theyalienate men. I was done with Keisha Cole after I Should've Cheated. Like what man wants to hear that!? I was feeling Jazmine Sullivan until she startedtalkin bout busting windows out of cars. That %%#% ain't cool! The last female rnb album I rocked with was Estelle's I think.

I'm not a big fan of either one.
Male singers are nothin but a bunch of r&b thugs
and the females are a bunch of bitter brawds

You mean right now, or in general? Cuz yea, through the 90's...the females ran %$$@ on the R&B side for the most part.

I'm talking about right now, but I think the men had it through the 90's too.

Right now, the females just wack for the most part. R&B right now is wack in general tho, aint nobody singing no more...

The 90's tho, Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, SWV, En Vouge, TLC, Xscape, Monica, Mariah, Lauryn, Brandy had joints, etc...tsst, it was some classic %+*# out backthen.

but at the end of the day, we men, so of course we are going to lean towards the male content in general. No matter how well the song is sung, you cant helpbut to

at "Whatta Mighty Good Man", aint no N'tryna hear that lol.

Men had it through the 90s??

eh

Real talk it depends on how ya'll define good. Cuz to me, jigs like Chris, Lloyd, The dream, etc. are not good but rather tolerable.

  1. Women right now tend to attach their R&B to high tempo poppy beats.
  2. As men, we can't really relate to the subject matter they're talkin' about.
  3. Beyonce got every bird in the world pumpin' they fist on some girl power
    f5235c65ebf573f38059f18252fd782f6562674.gif
and I really don't wanna hear that nonsense.

The art of musicianship is lost (on the mainstream level) and ladies lean even more towards all these empowering songs than they have previously

R&B General has fallen off in general a lot of these mainstream that are singing on the wrong type beats or can't really sing. I can'r even listento R&B anymore

I'll admit the gap was much closer in the 90's but I think the men had the slight edge. New Edition, Boyz II Men, Guy, Tevin Campbell,Brian McKnight, R. Kelly, Al B. Sure, Ginuwine, Babyface, Jodeci, K-Ci and JoJo, Usher, Case, Carl Thomas, Joe, Keith Sweat, H-Town, Jesse Powell, Troop, After7, Blackstreet, 112, Tony Toni Tone, Shai, Dru Hill, Soul 4 Real, Johnny Gill, LSG, Donnell Jones, Bobby Brown, D'Angelo, and that's just off top

I can probably keep going.

Gap much closer? Please. We singlehandedly had the game on SMASH since forever.

90's right? Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Babyface, Robert Kelly, & Joe. Game Over.

Male R&B is sooooooo much better to me because they're versatile. There are so many sub genre / catagories that we can do.

1. I love you / i want to be your man / marry you / you're the only one for me R&B
2. Women appreciation / i love my momma / thanks for being strong and putting up with my BS R&B.
3. I don't know what the hell I want right now / I'm confused R&B.
4. I've came from nothing to something R&B (see. Jaheim . he's good for that stuff)
5. I messed up, I know I've done you wrong / take me back R&B (if you're a singer and you don't have one of these in your catalog, you'renot R&B).
6. I wanna do everything to you (sexually) see. Robert
7. I wanna love you every minute of every hour (but not quite ready to committ) R&B.
8. I don't love you anymore and here's the reason why R&B.
9. I HATE YOU, you've lost a good man R&B.
10. I don't love you, I just want to chill with you and have sex with you R&B.

AND THEY SAY WE DON'T EXPRESS OURSELVES

Well...being that the best R&B singer right now IMO is a female....I can't really say I agree. I mean the only males that are really killin areAnthony, Musiq, and John Legend. Oh almost forgot Robin Thicke. They win just because there are more. But I'll take Jazmine and Jill over both of all ofthem, Marshia if she counts too. Those 3 are WAY better vocalists than anyone out right now. As far as 90's and before it's pretty much the samething....Male r&b isn't necessarily better, there are just more singers.

Damn g lol. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt...but you right, we had 90s on smash too lol.

The best according to who? IMO no one singer is killing the game so crazy to be the best. But there are certainly more males who are doing therething and putting out good-great music right now. And let's slow down before we start throwing Jazmine Sullivan in the mix with established artists. She's crazy talented but too new to start throwing her in the mix like that. And we aren't just talking about vocals, it's the whole package.
