Post Your Motorcycle

^Yep...Some pics from yesterdays ride. I'll most likely be at bike night every Wednesday as long as the weather is good. Also, stay safe out there fambs. Some guy in a white Malibu tried to cut two of us off on 495.

Solid thanks. I work at Goddard in greenbelt but live in Bmore. I should try to make it down there for one of these bike nights

taking the MSF course later this month and hoping to get my first bike by June. Im sure its different for people but did you guys buy gear first?

Another thing, when financing a motorcycle, I read that before you can ride away with the bike that it would need to be insured. Do you guys get quotes before heading to the dealerships or.....?

I bought gear after I bought my motorcycle. I recommend start looking for your helmet now. Everything else can be bought at your discretion.

Not sure about the insurance, because I bought my bike from private seller. Although I was ripping it up and down the street without insurance.

haha yeah I was thinking it would be smart to get a helmet soon. It would also serve another purpose and make me get the bike sooner rather than later.

thanks for the input

Planning on getting a bike this fall
1st ride today in the thawing northeast, got a chance to break in a new brain bucket i recently snatched up. i think it will be so money for the summer heat:

I heard DOT rates these as 3/4 helmets but I've never actually seen one up close - How different are they from full-faced helmets from a practical/ safety standpoint? I think they are dope haha.

yea, it is called the shark raw & it technically is a just 3/4th helmet with the goggles & mask attached, which it is about as practical as any other 3/4ths helmet maybe a bit more so since it has the integrated goggles (maybe less so depending on whether or not you like the goggles & mask)...it isn't nearly as protective as a full face, but they make another helmet that is similar to this one that offers more protection called the shark vancore:

it isn't available in the states though (yet anyways)

You can get the Shark Raw in the US, it's been on Revzilla for a while now.

Ya, I think you're right.

That Vancore looks dope, tho, hopefully it drops here.

ahh i see. Thanks for the info. Ill probably run with a regular full face helmet, I was thinking the only thing different was the goggles instead of visor. Still dope though.

Does anybody have more info as far as buying a bike? What you have to do to ride it out with insurance? I'm thinking I'm going out of state to buy a 49 state bike to bring into Cali. Sometime in May I'll have my old man give me a ride to Reno and I'll ride back with it and register it in Cali 7,500 miles later.

Why do you need information on riding without insurance. What's so difficult about insuring before you buy?
I think he was asking how to ride it out WITH insurance.

I'd like to finance a bike but before going to the dealership, do I get insurance quotes first?

Sorry if its a stupid question but this is a first for me so any help from people with experience would definitely be appreciated.

people who ride with tinted visors during the day, do you guys always carry a clear visor for night time riding?

I have a mirror visor but the finish is faded so it's practically clear now :\
I always keep a spare clear visor in my backpack regardless, but I 've never swapped it out. I don't find it too difficult to see through the tint, but then again I don't ride that late at night. Maybe a few hours after sunset is the latest I'll be out.

Went out for the first ride of the season today. Windy as HELL around here. I actually had to pull over while I was flying down the parkway.

Made the mistake of getting a silver tinted visor. It was harder to see at night at first but your eyes adjust. It's pretty scratched up now, gunna go for a light smoke next time.

For insurance it's just like a car, the dealer isn't letting you leave without it. Go to the dealer, negotiate the price, send the vin to insurance companies and have them fax over the proof of insurance. Although I've been told while financing you don't need full coverage, but never read up on that as I purchased my bike outright.

I didn't know you rode Hyper

Yea, I've been riding for a little over a year now.

Thinking about getting rid of my 650 and copping a ZX10R or Gixxer.

So many wide open roads in the desert out here, I wanna go fast,

Word. I just don't know how the process works and I'd like to have 100% full coverage on it.
