I'm gonna be comin through from NC for the first full week of July 4th and I know little to nothing about the city.

At first I was gonna go dolo but a good friend of mine is from there who will be comin with me since she hasn't been there in almost 10 years. Butit'll just be cool to hang out with some folks from out there.

We're gonna be stayin in the Silver Lake area btw.

Care to give me a rundown on what to do, where to go, what NOT to do?

Silver Lake is LA's new "trendy" area but it is really nice, lots of places to eat and there's an Undefeated over there. As far as where togo:

Downtown/Little Tokyo/Chinatown
Hollywood (overrated personally but some people feel they have to see it)
Grove/Fairfax stores (Supreme, The Hundreds, Huf, etc.)
Santa Monica/3rd St. Promenade (If you go to Santa Monica and don't get a Godmother sandwich from Bay Cities something is wrong with you
laugh.gif
)
Venice Beach

that should keep you pretty busy. If you have specific questions hit me up with a PM

They'll be plenty of firework shows (I don't usually go to any so I can't help you there)

Amusement parks? Six Flags, Knotts, Universal Studios

Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Sunset, Melrose, Old Town Pasadena

Dodgers game

Um................ lots to do! Coming summer time as well!

Day time - Melrose, Beverly Center Mall, The Grove, 3 Street Promenade, Americana Brand, Hollywood, Fox Hills Mall, Glendale Galleria, The Bridge, Of coursebeaches (Venice, Santa Monica, Hermosa, Manhattan, Redondo, Zuma), Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Getty museum, Plenty of parks to check out etc....

Night Time- Sunset Strip, lots of bars/lounges. Far as clubs goes, Coco De Ville, Ivar, My House, Les Deux, Blvd 3, LAX, Element, Oprea, Highlands, Apple,Cabana, Area etc.....

Yea, they play variety of music. Mostly top 40 and hip hop. It's not hood. We have hood clubs as well.

Come out to Little Temple in siverlake on a thursday for some cool reggae music. (I think it's on thursday) There are a lot of nice night places to hit upright around that area too, and you're really close to the Hollywood scene. That's worth a night or two while you're down here.

Nightlife:
Clubs are pretty much the same wherever you go, but there are some clubs in certain cities that are the best out of the bunch.

Pasadena: There's a place called old town that you must check out. It comes alive at night with people bar hopping the half mile or so strip with plenty ofgirls to hit on and attention to be had.

Santa Monica: There are a handful of clubs here, but only ones I've been to and had great times at are Zanzibar and Barcopa. Busby's is a cool placetoo for a bar setting. Definitely check that place out.

North Hollywood: Yes, there are a few local gems in the suburban bar scene. Check out Skinny's and Burbank Bar and Grill

Hollywood: Oodles and oodles of places. You're better off looking up hollywood on the net, but a few places I can point out are Happy Endings, Good Luckbar, Highland, Club Rise (right off hollywood and highland)

During the day though, you want to check out:

The Ghetty Center on the West Side just off the 405. Bring a camera, and set a day aside for this place. If you like art, and architecture, you'lldefinitely want to come here.

Santa Monica, third street promenade, and Main Street. Lots of trendy shopping places, bars, and a lot of overall culture here.

Museums: There are tons of museums you can check out while you're here. At least go to one to one, they're usually free.

http://www.museumspot.com/cities/losangeles.htm

Venice Beach and Long Beach for the Cali culture you've probably seen in movies.

Griffith Park, there's an observatory where you can see the stars, literal.

Go shopping (window?) at Melrose

Normally I'd avoid the Shopping malls, but if you must, the mall to see, and be seen is the Topanga Mall in the Valley. It's been the place to go toever since they completely remodeled it and added like 500 shops 2 years ago. Louie V, Burberry, Tiffany, Salvator Ferragamo, Coach, Apple. Seriously the mallhere is nuts.

Glendale Gallery is another mall you wanna go to, especially the Americana which is right around the corner.

Universal Citywalk/Universal studios. It's a cool place, even if you don't want to go into the amusement park. Shopping, bars, and saddle ranch (WhichI don't recommend btw)

Food:

While you're here, Eat In-N-Out

Nuff said.

I'm sure there's a butt-load of stuff I missed, but this is the stuff that comes from the top of my head.

Oh, and btw... I'm heading to NYC in June.

I'mma definitely need some NTers to return the favor in a little bit.

LOL, yep! It's like a real life Cheers. Afterwards, there's a handful of bars you can hop to if you're not feeling any particularscene. One of the more fun places to go... I just wish it wasn't so damned far.

Hmmm everybody pretty much cover everything. One thing is for sure, bring some summer clothes kid, it's gonna be HOT as hell.

There isn't any hood clubs per say, more like hood nights at clubs. Well, there is Club 740 and QC2020, those are pretty hood. Dude abovepretty much cover the cool ones. The Social, Vanguard, Green Door, AREA and Ritual are nice as hell too but there not hood, they play mostly hiphop and Top 40but ull find some of the baddest chicks there.

If you need to get in some places, holla @ me, I got hookups.

And what about the traffic?
I hear it takes up to 8 hours to get to San Diego which should take 4 hours on a good day?

Do you all suggest getting a rental car?
