How do you plan a vacation somewhere you've never been?

I know how to book a trip to Disney World or to go visit a friend or whatever but I wanna go to Toronto and I have no idea how to go about it. Should I justbook a hotel and wing it when I get there or should I go through a company and get some type of package deal? I'm sure NT'rs from the area havesuggestions on shopping, eating and clubbing. But I just really need help on where to stay and how I should go about booking the hotel. I don't have adefinate date set but hopefully sometime before school starts again in the fall or during Christmas break. I'm on a site now that lets you build your ownpackage but I'm not really trying to do the tourist thing. I just wanna kick it and have fun.
 
you should talk to some NTers from Toronto to find out a place in a decent location to what you want to do.

Once you get there, wing it.

plans on vacations FTL.
 
true...from what i hear Toronto is poppin and i'm trying to do something with my life besides school and work...
 
First find an area you want to be staying at. Once you've found where exactly you wanna be staying then just search, search, search. Search hotels ordepending on how long your stay is going to be/how many people are coming with search vacation rentals.

Also make sure to check reviews for EVERYTHING. Sites like Tripadvisor.com are a God send sometimes and really can save you from making bad choices based onappearances.
 
that's the thing...i know NOTHING about to Toronto...honestly...i'm just hoping to run into Drake...lol

but really its a general question for traveling anywhere....i also wanna take another trip to Italy...and Chicago...
 
Go to the Regional forums and then under Canada theres mad info about Toronto there also just ask people there, they always helping others out that come fromthe states too btw Caribana is one of the best times you could come

Research the net.... Find the proximity of hotels (if copping) to the attractions that you'll be visiting. Make sure you can use public trans if possible.Google maps even gives you the routes and times now.

Went to SF once and road that BART thing. I was a pro at it by the second day.

I know its in June think its either the first or second week dunno you gotta check on that it usually changes but you'll want to come a few days earlierand stay a few days after

Hey hey hey..... Memphis is the hometown and actually poppin if you go to Memphis in May or Africa in April. Month long celebrations downtownFTW!!!

i plan on making a life for myself in chicago in the next two years so i'll have plenty of time to experience the summers...
 
TORONTO's club scene is poppin....

i live in hamilton, which is 20 min away...
and i always go down there....got family there too....

come down, its like a mini- newyork....

I planned a trip to Toronto last summer without knowing anything about it. I just looked up hotels, restaurants, attraction(dundas square, cn tower, rogerscentre), clubs I wanna hit up http://www.torontonightclub.com/ .....and then tried to stay within thatproximity.....Had a good time.. a few notes....Parking sucks!!! $20 a day whereever you go!! Taxes are way higher then in the US! If you smoke, they arentgonna have your stuff there, and there arent liquor stores in the touristy area except ONE, and theyre making bank cuz their prices are hella high! I think theclub watered down the hell outta their drinks.
