my game broke last week for my xbox. I borrowed the same game from someone and found out that I could install the game to my harddrive, thinking that I couldplay the game on my harddrive without the disk but I cant. did I do something wrong or is there some other reason why this option is available for. I jusswannna know what is the special purpose for this feature? (the game is street fighter 4)

also less stress on your disc drive which could have lead to RROD, not saying that it still cant but yeah, less stress

And less/no chance of laser burn on your disk - a ring on your game disk that looks like a deep cut but is smooth and virtually un-fixable (if that's aword).

BTW i never knew how to install the game to the HDD...anyone want to explain how?

Dashboard or what?

How do you do this?

makes the xbox a whole lot quiet ... u can play the xbox a lot longer, cause the disc drive isnt spinning. reduce disc scratches..hopes that helps..

the only real reason i use it is to reduce noise..my xbox is loud as !%!% when its running on the disc

when u put the game in..go to ur dashboard..go to where u can select play game..but click "Y" instead..it will come up a menu..go downto install to harddrive..then thats pretty much it..it would be best if u have a 60gb or 120gb harddirbe..cause one game is like 7gbs...i have a 20gb and canonly store 2 games..lolz

It lets the game run directly from your HDD without having to spin the DVD drive. It allows faster loading times and lets the console run quieter.

I got the xbox elite, so it's no prob for me installin games, I like installin the ones I play most, to put less stress on the disc

they weren't gonna let people rent/borrow games and install em and have em for forever

the rest was already explained

Just a random thought, and I don't really know too much about this stuff, so there's a possibility that there's no way in hell this would ever beable to work...

But what if you installed a game onto your Xbox hard drive, then made a DVD with a ghost disc image from the original game? Any chance that game would be ableto be played? I have an old *%$ Xbox, so I can't install games to the hard drive to try this...

I'm sure if this worked it would already be out there and tons of people would already be doing it...

Good question...

As for Halo 3, don't install it if you're looking for faster loading times.
