Well NT ive been accepted into University of Maryland, Marquette, Rutgers, and Penn State. I live in Maryland so i would in-state tuition for Maryland whichwould be a big plus. I scratched off Marquette cause its very far away and i'm not jesuit so i don't wanna go there. So now my choices are betweenMaryland, Penn State, and Rutgers. The problem isn't tuition costs its just these feelings i have about each college when i think about going there.I'm leaning towards Maryland right now but so many people from my school are going there i feel like it will just be 4 extra years of my high school allover again. I hear that Penn State is in the middle of no where but i was supposed to go visit but i just didn't want to go visit because i feel like thatsjust not where i want to go. And Rutgers i havent even planned to visit or anything but i havent completely ruled it out. So any words of advice on thissituation?

^^^ cliche but go where your heart takes you.. sounds like you dont even want to go to rutgers.. Penn State as well. You will probably at least see one personfrom your school on a daily basis at most, but in college there are so many people there that they will be irrelevant. trust me if you want to distanceyourself from them its easy and you will make a lot more friends.

i say visit the others schools... i always regretted not going out of state for college

Yeah, don't worry about seeing people from HS too much.

If you don't want to chill with them, you don't have to.

Yes these are the next 4 years of your life and probably going to be some of the best you only live once

Go to UMD...

Do well academically and start thinking about what you want to do with your life from day 1. You can go anywhere coming of
all three schools but you'll love the tuition at the end of undergrad if you play your cards well.

Penn State is dope. You should definitely try to check it out. Plus, football days are MADNESS out there.

first of all only priests can become jesuits which is a follower of st ignatious and his teachings of the greater glory for god... anyways i would say mostpeople at marquette would be catholic but some arent

fam, go to Maryland. College park is a great campus, its a big bite of fresh air.

This coming from a local.

definitely ... you wont know how it is until you see it in person

Which Rutgers campus? I know New Brunswick screws freshmen over. Did 2 of my boys dirty, pulling availability for only 2 classes this semester, and no housingfor next year (didn't win the housing lottery).

There are probably about 20-25 people from my high school that go to the same college as I do. I live with two of them. Other than these two, I probably onlysee about one or two of the others on a consistent basis (at least once a week).

At a large school (mine is 44,000+), it's extremely easy to distance yourself from people you don't want to see.

Penn State is like a city onto itself so don't worry about it being in the middle of nowhere...I would say Maryland because I love the area, but Iwouldn't want to go somewhere w/ all the same people from hs.

it won't.. you won't even see them that much(if you don't want to)

RU is a good school academically...but it's a really big school.... so just keep that in mind, esp if you're not getting the in-state tuition rate...you'll need to be proactive if you want quality faculty interaction.
(I'm assuming New Brunswick Campus).

Another factor is cost... who is paying for college?... you, your parents, both?...

you can always make new friends in college, I go to Maryland too with hella people from my high school and i really dont hang out with any of them. there aretons of ppl here

My parents are paying for tuition but ill try to get some scholarships and maybe some loans things of that nature. But yea my 4 best friends from high schoolare all going to maryland and really want me to go there also i am like 70% sure thats where i want to go but i dont know whats keeping me from just making myfinal decision.

I would suggest that u just go to UMD. U won't enjoy Penn State, it is in the middle of nowhere. I went to visit my Sr yr of HS and the atmospherewasn't inviting. They got some good icecream but other than that, nothin imo. If u into sneakers, u def don't wanna go there. I don't think theyhave any spots in town (cause ud have to take a bus there)

dude, its time for you to go out of your comfort zone and expierence something new. I would say Rutgers....but thats my personal preference.

Go to MD. You will appreciate the IN School Tuition. Who cares if you see the same people from H.S. there, thats how college is. Plus with MD having 30,000+students, I doubt you will see them everday. Plus the campus is nice, and so is the strip. Have u seen Rt 1 on a Friday and Saturday night???

I wish I had went to UMD but I wish I has also went to school out of state....I really think you should take the visits before you decide...I wish I had
