Power Ranger Sentenced to Death for Murder

Actor SKYLAR DELEON has been sentenced to death for murdering Arizona couple TOM and JACKIE HAWKS. The former child star and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers regular has been convicted of chaining the couple to the anchor of the luxury yacht they were trying to sell him and throwing them overboard in 2004. Their bodies have never been found. Deleon then claimed the boat as his own. His lawyer pleaded for a life sentence, but the jury chose to serve up the most severe penalty. Orange County Superior Court Judge Frank F. Fasel imposed the death sentence recommended on Friday (10Apr09). DeLeon was also convicted in the 2003 killing of Jon Jarvi

Convicted murderer Skylar Deleon, 29, of Long Beach, Calif.,was sentenced Friday to die by lethal injection for three slayings, including the murders at sea of a couple forced to sign over ownership of their yacht, then tied to an anchor and thrown overboard.

Thomas and Jackie Hawks, who were living aboard their 16-metre yacht, called the Well Deserved, were murdered on Nov. 15,2004, after showing the boat to Deleon. The couple had hoped to sell the boat and move to Arizona to help raise their newborn grandson.

Deleon's five-week trial ended in November, when he was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder.During closing arguments, prosecutor Matt Murphy called the murders" diabolical and heartless," saying Deleon showed no remorse and was after money.

He was behind bars when he persuaded fellow inmate Jon Peter Jarvi, 45, of Anaheim, Calif., to give him more than $50,000, purportedly to take part in an investment opportunity. Instead, Deleon later killed Jarvi in Mexico by slashing his throat and leaving him to die at the side of a road.

many of the cast members of the 90's cult kiddie TV series about a squad of high-kicking superheroes dressed in brightly colored jumpsuits, have encountered bad luck or met an untimely demise after leaving the show.

Most recently, Japanese actress Machiko Soga-who played villainous Rita Repulsa on the Power Rangers- died of pancreatic cancer on May 7th, 2006, after fighting the disease for three years.
Other power rangers stars who've had tragedy befall them include:

Thuy Tran-the vietnamese immigrant who played the Yellow Power Ranger, got her big break in 1993 playing Trini Kwan on the show, but left the next year in disgust with two other actors over a pay dispute. tragically, on Sept. 3, 2001, she was killed in a car accident near her home in southern California.

Amy jo Johnson- A former child gymnast, Johnson was cast as the Pink power ranger Kimberly hart. Afterward she got her big break on the series "felicity." But her joy was short-lived when her mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She died shortly thereafter and, overwhelmed with grief, Amy Jo left "felicity."

Skylar Deleon- Deleon, 26, who played Roger on the rangers in one 1994 episode, is charged with killing Long beach residents Tom and Jackie Hawks and taking their yacht. Skylar, who is still in prison awaiting trail, could face the death penalty if convicted.

Austin St. John St. John who played Jason lee Scott the red ranger, left the show with Thuy Tran and Walters Jones during the second season. He's kept a very low profile since, writing a book on karate and teaching martial arts. most recently, it was widely reported on the internet that he'd muscled up and started a career as a gay porn star named Buck. it turned out that the rumors weren't true.
