What goes through your mind when....

Honestly, I don't get shook at all. It's just like a roadbump, it happens on almost every flight.

Plus, it's 100% out of my hands. Nothing I can do about it, so why freak.

Not at all. Like someone said in this thread, its like hitting a speed bump in a car.

Seen what you did there I have.

I actually have a crazy story that happened with turbulence on the airplane. I was on a flight back to LA from DC. Half way through the flight the pilot cameon and told everyone to buckle up because we were about to hit a rough patch of turbulence. I've been on airplanes so many times that I thought itwouldn't be something that serious. So we hit the rough patch and it was ok at first. Then all of a sudden it started getting really bumpy and it kept ongetting worse. Then all of a sudden the plane drops. I was so scared right when that happened. i was also mad because I had a cup of coke and it spilled allover the place when that happened! But I came off my seat when the plane dropped fast. I never had the death grip on the armrest until that time.

I just think about how the odds are vastly in my favor that my flight will take off and land safely with no issues

I was thinking about making an airline unappreciation thread. You should change the title. I mean do we Really have to pay for trail mix????!!..Besides that Ithought flight attendants were supposed to be relatively nice, at-least they used to be. I have flown a lot so I am becoming less and less scared ofturbulence.

I don't pay too much attention to it. I guess it's because I'm so used to flying that it doesn't really bother me.

i've been on planes a lot in my life and i still get a little nervous in turbulance. nothing too bad though since i've never been in anything out ofthe normal but from the minute i check in i go through stupid things in my head because of movies and or news.

funny though cuz this past weekend i was in vegas with some friends for a bachelor party and one of our boys came down after we were all there and his flightwas delayed because of heavy winds. when his flight finally got off the ground he was telling us how it was the worst/bumpiest flight ever. and this guy lovesflying but during this flight he said he spent the entire trip praying to god saying the entire time he was in vegas he'd be the most well behaved personin the world. 'no sinning' as he put it.

I usually think it ends up like LOST at first. Looking at OP's sig

makes me not feel that crazy. After some happy thoughts about that if the turbulence continues I just think of nothing and observe the other ppl around me andhopefully laugh at their reactions after it stops

Ironically enough though last summer me and my dad went to Trinidad & Tobago meeting up with family. We took a plane straight there from NY. There was somelight turbulence but the pilot warned us before hand, then few days later we took a plane to Tobago even on that short flight there was turbulence. My dadlooked worried both times

The first two times after thinking of LOST Ijust told myself it probably won't happen and more importantly there's no way I am going to die now, here and like this

. On the way back the short flight back to Trinidad we had turbulence again asmall little storm we passed through. I've now experienced turbulence on a round trip flight the most times in my life.

So we taking the last trip straight to NY from Trinidad. There was a crazy delay on the plane and we ended up staying at the airport until 10 pm, we arrivedlike noon. I'm chilling eating the weak airport lunch and dinner. Then as it got real dark the turbulence came again. After it happened so many times Iignored it, dozed off for 10 min, then I noticed it was still going on! Pilot made like 3 muffled announcements. I'm all groggy like %%%! my dad put on hisseat belt extra tight. The turbulence is still going! It's going straight steadily getting more violent for like 20+ minutes. PPL are gettingantsy

I try to calm myself with thoughts of LOST, wondering what'sgonna go down next season, thinking about new DHARMA stations, Locke, Richard, etc. Then hit me about Walt. I said I'm on this damn plane with ridiculousturbulence with my father of all ppl. I was about to cry man, I was like I don't want to be the Walt of this plane flight. I'm trying to remember theflight number, date, time, making sure it's none of the #s. Next thing you know the emergency air masks dropped.

I'm about to be a red-shirt. Pilot claims it was a mistake and everything is allgood but the turbulence is gettin worse like bumpy lifting me out the seat type worse. Some time later it stops and it's smooth sailing back to NY but Iwas scared and tight. I was looking at either a Michael & Walt situation on some island or dying some lame %#$ red-shirt death(gettin sucked in to theengine, drowning, some Other killing me for some preggo chick

) It wasn't a good look in my mind.

"So this is the end huh?"
And i put on my favorite song on my ipod, close my eyes, and bend my head back..Ready to die

My first reaction is to laugh
I think its partly because it's fun at first and reminds me of roller-coasters,
but also cause it clouds my mind from negative thoughts
