Taxes--- procrastinators represent...

Did mine today, but only because I owed $1700 fed and $200 state, UGH.

Next year I'm taking it to a tax service to try and find me some damn deductions.

I'm only listing one of my jobs down, so I can get the return, seeing as I owe money when I list both.

I was planning on it until my company (Rohm & Haas) was just purchased by Dow Chemical. Now I don't know if I'll even have a job inthree months.

If your job sends a copy of W2, be it a payroll service or otherwise, to the IRS, what's the point of NOT claiming that income?

Sure it can get by, but that's probably the easiest thing for them to verify besides your name and SSN. You really want to risk owing more money shouldthey find out? By all means, do you, but considering how long they can come after you, its not worth it to me.

If your job is under the table, that's a whole other thing.

Dirty is right, the countries largest deduction is typically real estate taxes and related mortgage interest. Which of course they're looking to limit, butI highly doubt that'll get far.

Through my own mis-calculation last year, I owed. I owed enough where I made estimated quarterly tax payments. Then I did my CY analysis and decided, f that,I'm not making any more payments. Sure enough, I recouped that.

4Wrestling- Searching for deductions is pointless unless you're already itemizing your deductions on your Federal. If you are, then sure give it a shot. Ifyou don't meet the threshold for passing the standard deduction, you're basically SOL.

Didn't you say you have to pay by the 15th if you owe? I don't have that money. But If I file only 1, the return I get back would cover the money Iowe.

Refunds FTL, if its sizeable, you could have all that money throughout your paychecks as opposed to a lump sum.

And finally, if you owe, god damn right I'm filing on the 15th. Floating checks FTW.

Dirt- you're in NJ and probably pay taxes in NY and NJ, safe to assume you need to cut a check?
My dawg has time value of money down to a tee.

If you don't have the money, they'll work with you and it'd be better to alert them to it than if they find out and charge youinterest.

Yes, if you owe, you're supposed to pay by/on 4/15. You can still file later but you need to send in the voucher.

I have had to pay for the last 2 years!
