I was just thinking the other day while watching the Masters......why hasn't Nike made a mainstream Nike Air Tiger shoe...? I googled Nike Tiger shoesand all i got was some damn golf shoes. If they can make a Ken Griffey baseball shoe without cleats popular in mainstream society along wit making footballplayers turf shoes mainstream why not golf....? I mean Tiger has his own brand of Gatorade. I just invision a real sleek looking shoe kinda dressy and sexylike the XI but not the XI something more Tiger Woods-$$* in a low top. I mean you know Nike could come up wit something. And not liking golf is no excuse iHATE baseball but I gots to admit the Griffeys are ridiculous. Any ideas why this aint happened yet and would u wear a pair if they were

...?

I've had that thought a few yrs ago when the golf shoes got released and they were very simple and sophisticated in design, I would think thats somethingNike has thought of already, but maybe not in great detail (bad on their part) and I think would be a good idea. I'm guessing their wondering if therewould actually be a market for that (which would probably be the middle aged and few younger buyers) who would probably clash with classier brands doing bettershoes...

from the pic on the site, they have forefoot zoom air as well. it's the most low profile zoom air in the front that i've ever seen!

For golfers!

Theyre like $270, have heel zoom.. and are the BEST golf shoes I've ever seen.

Too bad I don't play golf!

Here is a link for them:

I golf but no way I'm dropping that kind of cheddar on some golf shoes. I even have trouble dropping $100 on Dri Joys. I'll stick to my outlet Airpickups for $39.99 - lol

I don't understand what's so funny. You wear basketball shoes when you hoop, running shoes when you take a jog, what are you expected towear when you wanna go play 9? Cross trainers?

Yeah...Some clubs don't let you play without them.

Bowling alleys don't let you use your own shoes either. But I'd be interested in a Tiger Woods shoe. Maybe named "Nike Air Focus" for hisconcentration on the course?

It would be cool though. The reason whythey probably haven't made one is because old geezers that follow golf don't buy cool shoes, and the mainstream that follows golf are old geezers, meaning it wouldn't exactly sell as well as the AGM which was idolized by young kids for how cool it was to see a favorite player play in the shoes theyown; vice versa with Michael Jordan. Every little kid I know hates golf; it is too boring, and like I said earlier, most men wouldn't buy his sneaker line, only his golf shoes to go on the course. And by the way, golf shoes aren't things that people buy every so often. It is hard enough selling golf shoes veryoften like running or basketball shoes are, because they have a good lifetime. Just through speculating by the price and the mainstream golfers, I think they[Nike] already have a hard time selling golf shoes.

It has probably been in the pipe for some time, but they haven't gone through with the plan yet.

I'm pretty sure they came out with some Tiger Woods running/training shoes, but I could be wrong.

Hit the nail on the head. Tiger isn't out there to sell shoes, he's out there to sell clubs.

Actually, Nike did release a Tiger shoe in stores in 97-98. I remember it vaguely. My dude had them.

i just think Nike is missing out on making money off a superstar. They could make some kinda shoe non golf related for regular people and just throw Tigersname on em. Just make a nice shoe design resembling Tiger Woods. I think the right designer could make it happen. A sleek sophisticated low top with visibleair bubbles not to big...... i dont know it sounds doable

I think you're on to something. I was interested in trying drawing one for fun today, and surprisingly, it looks alright. I'll try to scanit on Friday and post it up here. Don't make fun of it though, haha, I never draw shoes, so I thought this actually looked nice. It is almost like a dressshoe/ golf shoe but with a midsole (don't know how to call it) of a casual Nike shoe, such as the Sweet Classic that Nike currently makes. I really thinkit looks simple in drawing, but something that could definitely be made into something cool and sophisticated.

I don't know my leather game, but the shoe would definitely have leather; no mesh. The main leather would be full-grain I suppose, or whatever is nice; Idon't know. The leather at the back of the shoe and the front of it would be black patent leather. The middle leather on the side would be a real niceblack leather, or maybe black Nubuck, and it would have a red swoosh, as that is his favorite color. I'm not a fan of expensive Nike shoes, but I thinkthis could be splurged on. The tongue would be leather, with the TW insignia embroidered into the tongue.

The laces would be the skinny kind of dress laces, because you can't use normal athletic shoe laces for something so classy. I made the midsole or base ofthe shoe rubber. It would have Nike Zoom Air in the heel, but maybe there could be forefoot Zoom too. I took the "Nike Zoom" badge from the Nike AirZoom Hayward 3's midsole and put it on the heel part of the midsole. It isn't blaring "NIKE ZOOM", but I mean, it shows that it uses NikeZoom technology, in a subtle way.

To top it off, I think it would be great to give it a all-black wooden box with the Tiger Woods brand symbol on it in red. Kind of like the Air JordanXX3's box, but maybe the interior WOODn't be so flashy. I think it would deserve a nice wrapping paper too. I also thought since it was a leather shoe, that it would probably need its own shoe-tree. It would have the logo of TW and the Nike Swoosh on it, to separate itself from other no-name shoe trees.

I am really going away with this, but I think Nike could really do something nice for the Tiger Woods brand, something that would attract shoe heads andfashion-heads with. It is a sneaker, but it looks really clean and sophisticated at the same time; something bigger than any Air Max shoe. I hate to say it,but it'd probably be one damn expensive shoe to buy too, but I'd definitely save my money for it, if it came with all the details I listed. I'd sayit would be close to $200. I am in no way a designer guy, and probably when I scan my drawing, someone could do a better job than me, but I really do believeit is possible.

I'm really excited now, and definitely with Swerv1n for a Nike Zoom Tiger or Nike Air Tiger shoe....

Edit: and it is a low-top too like you wanted, swerv1n.

I have always wanted Tinker to design a golf shoe for Tiger.

On a side note, I remember Champs selling a non-spiked version of the 1998 Tiger golf shoes.

nike could make money off tiger woods MAYBE. who really watches golf? plus how is the shoe gonna look? cant wear golf shoes to go out. i dont see it happening.

after i think about it, this is a good idea. i think it would be good to have some kind of cross trainer because he like to work out so much. it would be ashoe he wears to the golf course before he puts on his spikes to play. and it should definitely be a collaboration with tinker. best golfer of all time andbest sneaker designer of all time. i would love to see nike to do something like this.

Uh, you all are missing the point that NIke doesn't dilute their athelete's image with fashion shoes... And the Griffey analogy doesn't holdup... The Air Griffy's aren't made so they can sell a non-cleated version. That model exists for training and I believe he wears them on austro turf. Guess what? There's no golf on astroturf, and most of the training is playing more golf (though tiger is known for bringing true weight and cardiotraining to the sport).

Bottom line, outside of some poor selling stuff in Jordan line, and reissues, Nike doesn't drop lifestyle shoes... leave that to Reebok, BKs, Ekko,whatever...

I do think they could cross over some tiger designs into their Cole Hann dress shoe line. I've always been temped to grab some Nike golf shoes, rip outthe spikes and wear the mas dress shoes
wink.gif

Finally, whats kinda unique golf (at least as compared to basketball and running, where Nike's legacy of technology leadership and dominace) is the shoestend to be not the primary focus of the innovation for the sport. It's all about clubs, balls, etc... unlike J's it's not the shoes... Golf shoesjust have to be slick, waterproof walking shoes. And really only pros walk. Your average weekend guy guy is riding in carts. So Nike's become a leaderin golf by not focusing on shoes and focusing where the money is... in equipment. Nike was making golf shoes for nearly 20 years before tiger came along. They only became a dominant player one they got into making equipment.

Also, while there may not be as many young kids into golf as they are into b-ball, golfers are a higher value target. They don't spend $100 twice a yearon shoes, they spend thousands a season on clubs, clothes, and balls... They take golf vacations and spend thousands... Ever hear of someone taking abasketball vacation?

These are the doctor's, lawyers, VP's who have the bank to blow on "being like Tiger"... Marketing 101 will tellyou it can be just as valuable to have fewer high value customers... think BMW, Apple, etc...

I could see a shoe under Nike Sportswear, maybe... either a sleek training shoe or maybe a very basic lifestyle shoe along the lines of a Cole Haan, but lessuppity and more "sporty."

You took the words out of my mouth.

some of you are missing my point.....i aint sayin put out a golf shoe just without the cleats. I'm talkin......its hard to put what i see in my head on ablog....plus i cant draw that well.......but i'm sayin some grown man type sh*# real flashy almost dress shoe but sporty LIKE A XI but not the exact shoe.I mean if Tinker or whoever can make a basketball shoe that you can EASILY wear wit a suit are u tellin me they cant make a sexy dress casual sporty Tiger shoemade for a champion wit champion type swag and style. It justs sounds to easy to me for them not to have done it. If someone woulda told u before the XIdropped " Hey Nike makin a basketball shoe that you can wear with a suit..!!" you woulda been like....**** !!! I know its possible. I just want torock an active champions shoes like MJ when he was still in it. I want to tell people i'm gettin them new Tigers tomorrow. I dont know maybe it aintpossible.....i'm not a marketing exec or a shoe designer but it would be nice. You know if Muhammad Ali was in his prime right now there'd be some NikeAir Ali's that you know would be fire..... Thats what Nike is about ...thats what it does. Nike is the goddess of strength, speed, andvictory.....tell me that doesn't embody a Tiger Woods shoe. Just Do It....

THIS DUDE SAID IT PERFECTLY specially the sneakerhead/fashionhead part

are you kidding?

Tiger is Nike's biggest contract right now. infact, Tiger's next contract will give him partial ownership of Nike.

"who really watches golf?"

i don't think this question even deserves an answer.

Tiger has 2 clothing lines with Nike. he single-handedly built ::NIKEGOLF into what it is today. Nike has stated that if it had not been for Tiger, they wouldhave never gotten into the golf business.

you are talking about the greatest golfer that has ever lived. this guy is MJ status on the PGA Tour. if you're not waching this guy, you're missingout on history.
