this is probably the best way to start off since its your first card

Try to pay off your entire balance evry month. Then you aren't paying any interest. Actually shoot for that. It can be unrealistic at times, but at othertimes you can have money to make up for it. Just don't straight up pay minimum payments the whole time

dont spend your 300 dollar limit on a dinner wit mizznuyork...

wont they close the account eventually if they find out it has been inactive for a while? at least thats what ive read through past threads andpeople with great credit have been telling me that as well. im assuming op is trying to build up credit.

yea...ppl telling you to throw it away, etc. are not really helping you out.

if you have the money in your checking account to pay off the balance, I would recommend using your credit card to buy stuff!

but of course, pay it off in full and on time.

gotta build the credit somehow.

Horrible advice, ese.

Pay it off every month (before the due date, preferably).

Don't trip if you have a balance, just don't let your balance exceed 25% of the credit limit. If you use the entire limit..pay it off right away.

Congrats/Good luck.
Good advice. Not only that credit cards are more secure than debit cards.

Get rid of it. Dont believe the hype about needing to build your credit with a CC its not necessary. Pay cash

Not true at all. They have the same consumer protection. Go to visa.com and look at their policies.

The best way to go is not to use it.

But hey, you're an American its in your blood.

So if possible only use its for needs not wants, and never i said "never" use it for food.

Soon after you will realize credit is terrible though. You have to live by the statement if i dont hvae the cash i dont need it. Thats why everyones sonegative about it. You never know whats going to happen the next day.

This is my tip, instead of using your debit card, charge it using your credit card, within your budget of course. Pay it off every single month and try not tocarry a balance. I use Amex blue for the cash back rewards and charge everything i normally would ahve done with my debit card because of the cash backrewards. However, if you think you're gonna go crazy with a credit card and charge it for much more than you have or can handle, then don't even getone or better yet, cap the limit at something very low. The horror stories you hear about credit cards are from someone irresponsible, use it right and withinwhat you can afford, don't go on a spending spree thinking its free money or something.
