Europeans along with the Chinese are flying guns into the continent while they import/export the natural resources. Watch Darwin's Nightmare for an exampleof the arms dealing that takes place. Also, in Black Hawk Down when the Americans infiltrate the city there's a scene at the market in which nothing butguns are shown.

I'm probably oversimplifying this to the hundrenth power, but it seems like all these problems that we're having with other countries; Mexicanimmigrants, Somolian pirates, etc., would be greatly reduced if we made a real effort to help them at their roots by setting up some sort of legitimategovernment or functioning economy there. Instead we spend so much time just on the symptoms and no real progress is made. Of course, we're probablystretched thin by Iraq/Afghanistan, but it seems like we're wasting a lot of time/money/effort with the approach we're taking now.

QFT. I totally agree with everything you said. But we tend to look at the symptoms instead of the root cause of all the instability.

To argue against myself, I was thinking along the lines of the arrogance we would be portraying by trying to setup some democratic government orfree market econ. There's also the chance of having democracies backfire against us, i.e. Hamas. I guess the personal greed of our public officials isrelated to the "democratic imperialism" that we'd be portraying.

$150 for an RPG, that's what's up, no one will mess with you if you have one of those

I can see it ending up as Iraq 2 by bringing them "Democracy". It would have to have great organization.

Yeah and to add a little more about the former navy seal. He was on T.V. last week and he said Somalia is byfar the most dangerous place his ever been.

We don't care about any of this though, we just want to make sure that we remain in power.
