SO THE 2006 BMW M5 NOW GO AS LOW AS $40,000 NOW? WOW!!! VOL. V-10 IN YOUR LIFE FOR THE CHEAP

Yup, just did the research. The official BMW extended warranty is 3k, and you can haggle them on that price. Also extended maintenance is 1.8k. Makes sense tothrow that in there to be virtually worry free. I think I may just have to get one around this price. And to think I was going to get a E39 M5, but for 15kmore I can get the E60. Another reason why it's so cheap is becuase it's on the West Coast. In southern cal an 06 M5 is old news, but back east where Iam it's very rare and still the *@#+. I will drive it back to the east, heck I made that trip with my E34 and even with that the trip was a blast.

whats the high end 750 they just came out with ? i know its not an M series. but i love everything BMW but i like the 2000-2004 5 series the best.
ESP da 540

^^I'm not aware of the high end new 7 you are mentioning my dude. I like you greatly appreiciate the 2000-04 5's. I actually am not too much of a fanof the E60's compared to some of the other models I like, but that screaming high-revving V10 is calling me. My problem is not going to be affording it,more of convincing my fiancee to "let" me get it, especially since she wants the new Audi A4. I told her 500 HP isn't too hard to handle and thatthe SMG has a "comfort" mode. Hahahahaha

FYI to buy the extended warranty and extended maintenance, you must be the original owner and do it before the standard 4/50,000 expires. The only way tobypass this is to by it as a CPO from a BMW dealership.

Did some more research...there are more than a few reputable companies that offer extendedwarranty services for BMW's. I got my Bavarian dude for the maintenance...I am going to make this happen. Even if it's not the one listed. As long asyou have a solid warranty/service contract and you see the records of prior maintenance things should eb fine...and you are not putting the financial burden onyourself to keep up with maintenance. Besides 43k miles is NOTHING for a German car. They can go 257-300k easy with proper preventivemaintenance.

Too rich for my blood...

did you guys buy those cars straight cash or did you finance? Im thinking of financing a used Lexus whose asking price is $25k, I wonder how muchthe price can be reduced.

Of course there are companies that will offer you warranty services. But, in now way shape or form is it anything compared to BMW's warranty. It won't cover wear and tear items, (such as clutch, brakes..etc). These prices have been like this for awhile now, nothing new. You can now get extendedmaintenance from BMW, without being a original owner..unlike extended warranty where u have to be the orignal owner(unless its CPO'd). You're reallypushing it with 257-300K miles. These engines are so much more complex than older models, so I really doubt you're gonna get 250-300k. Just be careful anddon't rush into a deal just because u think its good. Even if u do have your own guy for labor and whatnot, these parts are not cheap and without a properwarranty...your wallet will take a very big hit.

The 650i was paid in full plus a trade-in worth 22k. The C63 was financed with a trade-in worth 22k and another 5k on top. The first day, the salesman atMercedes was like we don't discount the C63 at all, its the hottest selling car Mercedes has

Took them 10 minutes the next day to agree on that price. They're desperate.

3rd party warranties are sketchy. IE: A few years back, a very reputable 3rd party insurance company went under and everyone who already paidfor their insurance got screwed. Some dealerships also refuse to deal with them.

43k is nothing for a German car? That used to be true for the older generations, but not the newer ones. I have many friends with new AMG's and M's,and all had issues in one way shape or form. Also factor in all the electric stuff that's in the car now, and factor in that BMW is known for electricalgremlins so you do the math. When I put on my KW V2 on my 335i, I had to removed quite a few sensors and cringe of owning the car with no warranty.

I'm not telling you it's a bad buy, just don't go outside of your mean. Say you blow a rod out and need to replace the engine...that V10 enginealone, without labor, will run you $25,000-30,000.

To you and WJ4...first off thanks for the extra insight y'all are providing. Trust andbelieve I'm going to make a smart decision on this. The BMW dealership in my area is top %10 in the nation (BMW Excellence Award) and very helpful andI'm going to speak with them about warranty specifics. Like I said early from the research I have done earlier there are a FEW good warranty companies thatpeople actively use for Bimmers as second buyers. Of course I know it would be expensive for out-of-pocket repairs for the V-10...is why getting an M5 withouta warranty and maintenance is not even a question for me.

I'm not saying I'm rich or anything...but I can handle it...will probably pay cash for it. I mean I was alreadygoing to put out a little more than the price for this for the new body style A4 Quattro 3.2 We'll see though.

f.y.i.
the 2006 had thee most problems of the e60 M5 and thee most lemon law'ed M5 in history I believe....
I only went with a 08 M5 because ex wifey already had the S63 and I wanted a sport sedan...

now, I think the car will be gone very soon or I'm going to do something MAJOR to it for bimmerfest, then get rid of it, but I'm torn.

f.y.i. part 2
in the first few months of owning this m5, I spent an average of $1,500 a month on gas alone.
my car when I drive like a jerk gets 57 miles to a full tank of gas
when I drive pretty normal, I average about 120 miles to a full tank of gas

lastly, I'm paying $60 a month for the absolute full coverage insurance on this vehicle through mercury. (about $150 a month total for this, the chargersrt8(which is gone now) and the audi R8)

First off, what's good Nupe...Phi Nu Pi.

Secondly dang yo..your normal driving only nets you 120 to a full tank. Dang let me find the fuel capacity in gallons anddivide that real quick..ok 15.4 gallons...you figure that's absolute capacity, not counting the amount left for reserve... so let's say 13 gallons.120/13= a shade over 9 MPG and I'm assuming premium gas cause these cars don't take that economy ##!#. Hmmm something to think about though suprisinglynot a INSTANT deal breaker because this would not be the car I would have to drive everyday. Got my 08 Camry for that.

Thanks for the first hand info Ben.
