I've had some ink sessions and touch ups in the past and have always had a problem with flaking & peeling. No problems with the scabbing and itching, however. Used my fair share of products, most recent being Preparation H and Cocoa Butter. Last tat I got I tried to leave it alone as much as possible andcame up with the same results. Getting more work on Monday and I'm looking for suggestions and aftercare routines you found to work. I also heard tatartist who use proper technique will translate into minimal problems post care. True?

That philosophy can be applied to anything ever, man.

Nothing halfway attempted ever comes out as it should.

all ive used is tattoo goo....btu the same has happened to me ..no matter what my work ALWAYS comes out a
lil discolored . Like theres always lil spots where the inks gone but it was there when i got the work done...idk tho

i used Aquaphor Healing Ointment by Eucerin for my most recent tattoos, and I liked it better than regular A&D ointment cuz it doesnt smell weird and isntas goopy

Most of the tat artist I've been to recommend not using A&D because they say it causes discoloration because of the way it heals your skin

A&D ointment is good... but the problem is that people don't know how to use them. Proper care + Proper timing is what's gonna keep your tathealthy.

-When you get your tat, wait a couple hours before washing it with WARM water! (to many times i've seen kids shower right away with hot water and theirtats get destroyed)

-After gently patting down on your tattoo, then apply a THIN COAT of a&d ointment around the tatted areas. (Key word "THIN"... your tattoo isfresh wound, so it still needs to breathe, putting to much ointment doesn't allow it to breathe... thin coat, it shouldn't be glossy after applyingointment)

-After a FEW days of washing your tattoo consistantly and applying only a&d ointment... then your tat should be ready to start on the next stage, which isapplying NON-FRAGRENCE lotion (I personally use Lubriderm, a lot of artist's usually recommands those too)

Hope that helps!

Just found out that u shouldn't use A+D after the third day b/c it's petroleum based and it heals ya tat too fast and pulls color from it.

I just got one last month and ol girl told me to use Lubriderm lotion, nonscented, it stung a lil the first day cause of it bein a lotion but it def workedwonders for me. My tat is holdin it's color the longest its ever had.

On the 3 tattoos I got my artist told me not to use an ointment or vaseline cause its too thick and doesn't allow your tattoo to breath properly and healproperly

I just wait a few hrs after I get it done to wash it gently with a mild soap like Dove or Dial and then with a non scented lotion like Lubriderm. They healperfectly every time

i usually use A&D ointment. i went with a friend to get his once, and the tattoo artist demanded he use cocoa butter.
