Looking to innovate and push the envelope for all aspects of athletics and physical activities that require the utmost in performance, Nike unveil their SFB.The project comes to fruition after four years of work. Inspired by Nike founder and Oregon Track & Field Coach Bill Bowerman's time in the 10thMountain Division of the US Army, the Innovation Kitchen on the guidance of Tobie Hatfield set out to honor their founding father. Goals of building a lighter, more breathable but still protective piece of footwear became the focus. This technical marvel has resulted in technologies such as Natural Motion Cushioningunit for improved support and speed as well as agile performance. For great grip, Sticky Rubber forefoot lugs are strategically mapped out for the necessaryagility and traction in uncertain terrain. With its armed forces goal, the boot also comes complete with a "puncture and laceration resistantthermoplastic forefoot shield and genuine leather with Kevlar sheath". All in all the boot also boasts the ability to be considered one of the lightestand fastest drying boots of its kind on the planet.

these would have made life in the fort irwin desert a little exciting. i would have gotten an article15 for being out of uniform everyday and i'd havebeen laughed at, but my dogs sure would have been comfy.

black it out and put some full length zoom in it and it's copped lolol.

but seriously, didn't know nike would make something like this.

very new and innovative concept...not my type of thing as I probably wont have any need for them...but seems very functional and possibly very comfy for such aboot....Nice one Nike....

Good to see Tinker's brother Tobie Hatfield is getting some attention for what he is doing in the Kitchen instead of being in the shadow of Tinker...

Nice, gotta love that.

I see they are selling out in some sizes too, interesting.

If they sold these in Px/BX they would do Jordan DMP #'s

Soldiers HATE THEIR BOOTS, if these are even remotely comfortable, they would get bought quick fast.

Seconded.

Nike needs to learn to know their role. Anytime I see some sunglasses or some watches or baseball gloves with a swoosh on it, I'm laughing and shaking myhead at the same time. Because that product is woefully inferior to other brands, but cats will rock it just to hump that Swoosh.

Yeah, I like the effort, but not the idea. Knowing how bad Nike is with quality, it would break down quickly with the standards that many military bootsprobably are used in. Adidas has made a boot too however.

These actually are being used right now by U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan, which is exactly what they were designed for. Their testingand feedback was really the only "marketing" involved with this boot... honestly, I'm surprised that they've seen any sort of retail release.

Yes, Oakley did their military boot, but I truly don't know whether anyone's actually using it. Maybe some soldiers are. But Nike SFBs are definitelyon the ground right now in Afghanistan.
