If Blake and EG knows what's good they'll get out as soon as they have a chance, preferably across the hallway

all they need to look at is Lamar --- clippers -- heat -- 2xChampion

Naw it's just that Kobe retires in a few years, Pau is getting older and they'll be a void there for a perfect transition into the new blood

Anyway why are you so sure that Sterling has somehow changed and won't be the exact same person that he's been since he first bought the Clips? He's the Al Davis of the NBA.

I honestly see the Clippers probably being the Oklahoma City Thunder of the next few years. The have a Durant and Westbrook with Griffin and Gordon and have a bunch of solid young players. They've shown that they can beat the elite teams this year and Blake is gonna breakout like Durant. I see them becoming a very good team next year and going to the playoffs.

Similar potential...yes

Similar management...hell no

Guess everyone really doesn't know how horrible and cheap of an owner Donald Sterling is.

If Elton Brand hadn't backed out of an agreement this sentiment would be much weaker.

I'm not here to defend Sterling though, it's just that you all seem to be ignoring the fact that the reason Sterling is known as cheap is because he does what he can to turn a profit (something he does very well). Doesn't take much to figure out that keeping Griffin will help him turn more profits.

Lamar is the one guy in recent memory who the Clippers let walk, and he wasn't worth the max deal when he got it and was never worth it.

The fact that you call Sterling the Al Davis of the NBA shows how little you know. Al Davis did more for the NFL as an owner than pretty much any other franchise owner for it's league.

Honestly, that episode is one of the few things DTS has done that I liked. Baron has made $11M per the past two years and done absolutely nothing. Sterling didn't say anything to Baron that was personal or demeaning, and it seems to have lit a fire under him finally. Go check the numbers from the time that article came out

. If I'm the owner and you pay a guy for 5 years and in the 3rd year he's still overweight and taking terrible shots, it's well within my rights to shout out onto the court at him.

Recent times have shown that Sterling is willing to spend. During his tenure, his highest ever payroll, resulted in the most profits for himself (Our 2006 playoff run). Dunleavy deserves alot of credit for this, because he was the one who convinced Sterling to finally open up his wallet (New practice facility, contracts for Mobley, BD etc.). He's seeing alot of profits this year mainly due to Griffin. If he sees that the team is winning, and the seats are filled, I have no doubt he'll spend to keep the team together.

With all that said, he's still an embarrassment. I'm still not spending any of my hard-earned money on this franchise because I still want him out.

Lamar needed to leave the Clippers organization more than anyone. He was just a dumb, immature weed head at the time and the Clippers didn't need that. Going to the Heat that one year really did help him mature.

Summed up my thoughts exactly.

I watch on TV or accept free tickets, not about to spend my own money.

I was speaking more on Al in recent years but whatever. We'll see when it's go time and EG and Blake want that paper is he willing to keep them.

I don't think those guys will have a hard time getting paid.

If anything, it will be either getting a solid cast around them to convince them not to take the qualifying offer and become unrestricted, or after they sign keeping the other good players to go from good to championship level.

I heard something about the owners wanting a franchise tag in the new CBA, doesn anyone know more about that?

But Laker mediocrity (getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs) would be considered an accomplishment for your Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers have made the finals in EVERY decade, so they won't stay ''mediocre'' for long.

As far as the original topic at hand, this is the most exciting Clippers team since they had Odom, Miles and Q-Rich.  Griffin is a beast.
If you were a Dodger fan too, you probably wouldn't have those same thoughts.
I am a Dodger fan.

But it's night and day as far as how each organization run.

BTW, 47 points off of turn around jumpers and bank shots?

Not really simply because the Heat and OKC front office are very good and will work to improve, you have faith in the Clips FO making another solid 4-5 moves to push them into the elite range?   I have BIG doubts on that.

Player wise, yes, I agree that Jordan, Blake, Gordon is one helluva fit.  Agree completely there.
Ownership wise, there are a lot of questions, but Neil Olshey has done a lot of good things since he took over for MDSr. as GM. Aminu has been very solid for a rookie, and Bledsoe looks like he'll be very good too. Also, the Clippers have Minnesota's first rounder unprotected next year from the Cassell trade

.

Yes, I understand that the "They're the Clippers" argument is going to be prevalent until they prove otherwise, but as someone who has been a close follower for 10+ years, this group seems to be in a much better position than either of the two other runs at being good
laugh.gif
I've noticed that Aminu kid, liked what I seen so far, but I've heard Bledsoe was struggling.  (maybe I'm off on that, haven't seen him enough with Baron back, saw maybe 2 games when Baron was out, he looked ok to me.)

That Minny pick could be something that really jumps them up.  We need to get past this damn lockout so we can see what actually gets done for some of these teams.

Both Aminu and Bledsoe have been up and down this season.  With Bledsoe, he's a great athlete, but doesn't really know how to play PG yet.  He moves to fast and makes the occasionally bad turnover.  On the flip side, he definitely can provide a spark off the bench at times.  He's definitely a keeper, IMO, but he's got a lot of room to improve.

Clippers 'Guarantee' Griffin Won't Leave Via Free Agency In 2014
Jan 20, 2011 10:51 AM EST

Blake Griffin is not eligible to become an unrestricted free agentuntil the summer of 2014, but the Clippers are already talking aboutoffering him an extension during the preceding summer.

"I can guarantee you he will only ever be a Clipper," generalmanager Neil Olshey said of Griffin. "If [Oklahoma City Thunder generalmanager] Sam Presti arrived on Kevin Durant's doorstep at midnight onJuly 1st with an extension, understand that Blake Griffin lives twoblocks away from me in Manhattan Beach so it's going to be a muchshorter commute for me."

Griffin is averaging 27.6 points, 14.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the new year.

"When it comes time for him to be a free agent, we won't belosing," Olshey said. "We're not losing now. We're 10 out of 14 nowwith our All-Star center [Chris Kaman] sitting around in a suit. Thefuture looks pretty good. The only question will be, in two or threeyears with Blake, is how much more we'll be winning."

Laker fans can officially put the pipe down now.

I trust that our FO won't surround Griffin/Gordon with losers in 2014 so yes it is very possible.
f3hsib.jpg

You should be more worried about Dirk's replacement by that time.

Unless dude is a really good actor, he seems a lot more KD than Bron personality wise. I could definitely see him staying if DTS can lock up EJ and DJ this summer.

That Minnesota pick is looking pretty good right now, hope the lockout doesn't somehow screw it up.

Everyone wants to go in on Laker stans but the haters are equally as pathetic.
No doubt.
Plus I enjoyed the 90's Lakers.  Eddie, Nick, Ceballos, Divac, Eazy E Campbell with Del Harris as coach?

That team didn't win many playoff games but those were still some memorable moments especially when Magic came back both as a player and coach!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but in Sterling's defense, name me one player that walked and became a SUPERSTAR in the league?

Yeah, I am distraught now, guess I'll have to settle for Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, OJ Mayo and Russell Westbrook.

*sigh*
