[:: J. COLE THREAD | DREAMVILLE's ROTD3 ALBUM OUT NOW!! ::]

probably toughest album of the year, well deserved numbers. glad i could help contribute to that

i bet most who bought "yeezus" were hypebeast or resellers trying o win the yeezys 2s

i agree with Fantano's review, as I do with most of his...

Album was solid, Cole definitely has the lyricism thing down, BUT he just does NOT have that star power or WOW factor. Its not a knock on him and his following will always be around, but for me 21 songs (on the deluxe) I found myself wishing it was over already.. just my 2 cents...

Glad to see him do almost 300k tho.. COLE WORLD

I wonder if your not feeling Cole what artist doing you listen to or is doing it better?

Like what "WOW" factor are yall checking for. Sounds like gimmick hunting to me.

Have yall seen the new hoodies and Tees on the Dreamville site? I wanna get the Halo-Crown hoodie and the New Legends Tee.

Well he isn't just rap... So what is he?

I feel like Drake is Rap/RnB/simp/feels&emotions with whatever tv category Degrassi is sprinkled in

He def has a status that more than just rap. He came to my school to preform at homecoming and the girls went crazy, they surged forward, broke the barrier, and some people almost or did get trampled. I was in the middle of the crowd, thousands of ppl, the force that pushed me was incredible! im looking at these girls like :wow:
so yeah he got a diff type of status cuz 2 Chainz, Meek Mil was there plus other big celebs/rappers/singers and no one else got a reaction like that, it was crazy

Back on topic

i wonder the same, good music isnt always popular word to all the talented underground and up and coming artists tryna break into the industry

lets not forget Cole is a humble and reserved person so his music reflects that. the industry hates to love him lol

& if the album not for u, then he gave u a quality mixtape at the same time and uoenoit

but i think he broke it down well in the Jodeci Freestyle :pimp:

Heard a couple n***** hatin’ but them f*** n***** weak
Count a hundred thousand dollars like it sucks to be me
Ain’t that what you wanted? Stuntin’ on you n*****
Came in this game never frontin’ on you n*****
Gave you heart and soul, stories of my pain
Feel naked cause I laid out all my glory and my shame
Caught fire just to have n***** ignore me and my flame
‘Bout to burn down the house, they tryna put me in the rain, no

then to the industry:

Flow dumber than your projections
This makes twice now, I doubled what you expected, yet
Your covers keep complexin’ me
Maybe it’s too complex for me
But is this ’bout skills or is this ’bout sales?
Cause either way, all them n***** is less to me

I mean godYe only did 30K more...

Check out dudes sales since Graduation.

The next album will be even worse if he doesn't go back to his roots.

This is the best part about Kanye though.....there are very few artist that will make music they want to make regardless of what they "think" it will sell. Kanye just keep making music you want to make and let those who want to enjoy it enjoy it.

I sadly agree with Fantano about this album. I like it dont get me wrong. But i feel like there wasn't a lot of substance really, not gonna get much replay value from me. But not saying its bad and im glad dude did numbers.

But Nas on let nas down...why did he have to do that to Cole......his remix verse has been played more times then the whole cole album for me right now

Is that what's really going on?

Looks like a bunch of experimentation for the sake of being different; done at the expense of the culture, and growth to me is more than a difference sonically, it's more so reflected in the words, lyrics of the artist.

That to me is growth.

I'm listening to sideline story again and the prod was a little more lively then this album but the lyrics are better on born sinner, I hope he finds that middle ground beat wise on the nexxt album. Prolly scoop a copy to support and know we want more music, but yea.

As much as born sinner has grown on me, he definitely needs to find the middle ground for right beats and right lyrics.

We see flashes of brilliance here and there. Usually either an amazing soulful beat or amazing soulful lyrics. But he can't combine both consistently for the LP's.

He did a better job, but we 09'ers know that he's capable of putting together 13 songs great beats and great lyrics. That's why we were a little dissapointed. He should of kept 5 of those FNL songs for the album. But then again, who knows where his career would be without FNL? If he hadnt put those out he might not have had the fans and sales he has today.

So everything happens for a reason.
And he's clearly headed in the right direction. But now that he's 2 albums in, with 100x more
Knowledge and experience than he had before sideline story, I expect him to put his new learnings to good use and find even a better balance for the next LP.

More premeditated murder, too deep for
The intro, blow up....less LAnd of the snakes and Mr.NiceWatch.

His ceiling is so high tho. I got faith.
He's gettin where no one expected him to e
Be. Slowly but surely :pimp:

Man...That fantano guy I would love to wipe him out of the hip hop community...I cant even believe dude has influence it disappoints me so much. Damn lame...

Yup. Kanye Goes left to be different, not so much to Grow Musically.

Same. He's on point most of the time imo

I like the album more than he did but he makes very valid points that I can agree with.

Just some things he holds more weight to than I do when listening to some music

Pretty much this.

Im a big Ye' fan and response to the reflection of lyrics impacting the culture  I absolutely agree. Ye' has captured his audience and in a sense forced the change of music from a "sonic standpoint" as you put it, but has left the aspect of lyricism out of his past 2 or 3 solo projects.
