XXL gave Born Sinner an L, but gave Mac Miller, Kanye, and even Action Bronson XL's >:

He needed outside production...

XXL rating is a joke... But what do you expect, he dissed them on the album.

Far as the outside production goes... I use to feel like he really really needed it, I still feel like it wouldnt hurt... But I don't feel like this album is indicative of that. What beats are terrible or amateur on here?

I just think dude has a mature laid back sound for his age and when you look at the new class of rappers, no one else has that... So I kinda think that throws alot of ppl off.

I'm not saying his beats are amateur or bad but they all sound the same, like he's using the same drum kit. I would love to hear him over a No ID beat, just something to switch things up, you never know how it could impact his writing....

Listened to a little bit of Kanye, Mac Miller, and J Cole new albums on youtube before making my decision what to buy.

Let the record state I'm not a J Cole fan at all and I have the Friday Night Lights mixtape and that's it. I only like a few songs from it.

I only have one Mac Miller mixtape Macadelic. It's pretty good but otherwise not a fan of him.

I have all Kanye albums except Yeezus.

I bought the J Cole album

Have only heard like five songs though because I lost my headphones and was kinda busy last night so only a few tracks in the car. Looking forward to giving it a full run through.
smart choice

YOUR ONE-DAYS: The top of next week's chart will look a little better than in recent weeks, with Kanye West and J. Cole scoring the #2 and #4 debuts of the year. Justin Timberlake (968k) remains untouched for the biggest first week thus far in 2013. Daft Punk (339k) will move into the third spot following next week's chart. Here are this week's key debuts:

Kanye West (Roc-a-Fella/Def Jam/IDJ) 375-400k
J. Cole (Roc Nation/Columbia) 290-315k
Mac Miller (Rostrum) 95-105k
Kelly Rowland (Republic) 60-65k
Hunter Hayes (Atlantic) 30-35k
Falling In Reverse (Epitaph) 20-25k
Sigur Ros (XL) 20-25k
Empire of the Sun (Capitol) 15-18k
Hanson (Three Car Garage) 14-17k

These results were tabulated by our sales department but formatted by our new intern, who's now resting on a little bed made of newspapers and enjoying some tasty crusts of bread. Adorable! (6/19p)

it would be :smokin if Cole found a way to sell an additional 100k more

Dope man... Well deserved.

His Born Sinner episode just dropped too. I'm on my phone and can't post it.

He was speaking that real... his story is just super inspiring to me, like its personal... that's why he is able to sell well and have such a dedicated fanbase.

I feel like a cot damn fool for questioning Coles promotion a few months ago.

Forgive me Jermaine, you knew exactly what you were doing. :pimp:

300K is just SILLY :x :wow:
300K for a pure rap album? In 2013? Are we dreaming!? That is such a huge success.

I am so happy for my dude. You know it has to feel damn good man. You know Jay is poppin bottles thinkin about all that extra $$$... What an investment. The label is probably celebrating as we speak.

This just means even more creative freedom and a larger budget for the next project.

Ladies and Gentlemen, A Star is Born... :pimp:

This is a young man who produces all his music. He's a throwback lyricist. He raps about something. He's honest about life.

And he's selling records.

Something that we haven't seen in a while.

Feels like a father watching his son walk off to college. Remember seeing dude at a free show at city hall park years ago.::lol:

Happy for him. Happy for Hip Hop.

Anybody at the NYC dollar and a dream concert line?

I was going to try it but It takes at least an hour and a half to get over there for me... Probably would've had capacity on line waiting by then

Can't really celebrate yet that's just a first week projection based on the first day sales, people still need to buy and continue to support the album

I really don't know what people were looking for and I have listen to all of Coles work but this is a very solid album and I guess I am in the minority that truly likes it... Maybe two songs( at least for me) production could be tweaked but the words and truths he is saying is what hip hop needs right now
