[:: J. COLE THREAD | DREAMVILLE's ROTD3 ALBUM OUT NOW!! ::]

I listened to all 14 minutes of note to self and actually had a damn good time. Stuff like that creates nostalgia. The only weak link f the album in my opinion is Hello. I wouldnt have minded another verse on St Tropez too bc that beat is fire.

I still debate on the warm up or FNL being a better project. That way Welcome and Grown Simba came one in the beginning made me a fan before the tape took off.

Dudes really enter a thread of an artist and his fans just to hate.

It's crazy

na b i dont hate cole. loved the warm up and friday night lights. cole world was avg. had a good amount of rotation from me. but after that everything has been garbage.

not feelin born sinners or forest hills drive.

It's pretty good. He walks the corny line a lot and occasionally steps over it, like on "Wet Dreamz." But it's still pretty good. I'm just not entertained by him, as cliche as that is to say.

Ya'll overact to everything.

Nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking.
The irony.

It hasn't even hit the shelves yet and you're already claiming it's not revolutionary.

It's been leaked on the Internet for 12 hours, millions of people still haven't even gotten a chance to listen, including me, but you're claiming it's not revolutionary.

No one will know if it's revolutionary or life changing for society UNTIL SOCIETY GETS A CHANCE TO EVEN LISTEN.

Some people I swear

Can it be released before we decide if it's going to affect the music business or society?

You claim people are over reacting but you don't realise you're following it up with an even bigger premature overreaction.
First of all, an album hitting the internet in 2014 is just like an album hitting the shelves and being released to the masses in 1996.

Most people in society who care about J.Cole are savvy enough to already have the album, and would have had the opportunity to play it multiple times by now.

Me overreacting would me saying that the album sucked OR saying that the album was revolutionary or groundbreaking. I said it was ok, which is right in the middle.

You can listen to an album a few times and be able to make the determination that it doesn't suck, while simultaneously being able to make the distinction that it is not revolutionary, groundbreaking, or a classic. And with this album it wasn't difficult to see that this was just some more of same 'ol J.Cole... a rapper that doesn't suck but also a rapper that isn't the greatest.

And lastly, it is pretty disgusting that you said "including me" when referencing people who have heard the album... like your voice and your opinion is the end-all-be-all in reference to anything J. Cole. You need to go sit in a corner somewhere or exit this thread until you have at least heard the album, and let the rest of the people in society who have actually heard the album discuss it in here. People like you always make me laugh... thinking you are going to get a more "organic" and "stimulating" listening experience by waiting to listen to the physical copy. Like G T F O H with that, and come back to the discussion table at the appropriate time.

It's crazy

This would not be NT if that didn't happen .

Anyways, after listening to this a couple of times, this album is def. well constructed. I can't really see many songs getting much play on the radio.

I also get a "Rawkus Records" type of vibe with this album.....

On my 5th listen and I mess with this album heavy. IDK if its better than Born Sinner yet, I really liked Born Sinner, its definitely better than Cole World. I didnt like FNL at all like most of you guys did, this is better than FNL.

Dont save her, she dont wanna be saved

I just want to say one thing before I give my thoughts on FHD: I am so glad he didn't drop a single. I didn't realize how much I would've appreciated that. Normally singles drop before the album and I hear it so much that I automatically skip the track when I get an album.

With that said I finally gave it a listen last night. I hate to sound cliche but like most of you have said, he really has improved and this album feels better than his first 2. I went back to listen to Born Sinner and I only liked 6 songs initially, I wasn't ahuge fan of the production.

I like the Intro. I had to listen to Jan 28 twice :pimp:. I listen to Wet Dreamz twice :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:. Song was dope to me cause I lied to the girl who I first smashed and did most of the things he rapped about.. 03' Adolescence is meh. I feel like I've heard that song too many times before. I like Tale of 2 Citiez. Fire Squad is :pimp:. St. Tropez is ok. G.O.M.D is :smokin. I love the production. No Role Models is  :pimp:. Don't save her, she don't wanna be save. :pimp:. Hello and Apparently are nice. Didn't think Cole singing would sound good. :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:. Love Yourz is ok. Note to Self is dope. It's been a minute since we got an outro like this. Last person I can remember doing this is Kanye on the College Dropout and I think Jay Z. Him shouting out the other rappers and Ferguson :pimp:.

I like 11 of 13 songs. Definitely getting my copy on Tuesday.

I'll wait some months before calling it a classic. Classics are timeless and I normally don't get tired of listening to it.
