I agree, I wasn't saying that I believe he has an agenda but after reading multiple comments and tweet responses to his twitter post over the matter I feel like that is the reason why

MIGHT have thought my mention of him was funny. It's no secret that many people think Macklemore is corny and uses certain things for sales such as the concept of the "Same Love" record and performance he did during an award show, so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that many people feel that way about the current issues as well.

I listened to the album last night, and to be honest I wasn't very impressed overall.
I get that nostalgia was a theme throughout, but jeez it just felt like same ol' Cole on a lot of these songs.
Especially Jan. 28th. I remember when that was a mixtape track and now he brought it out, and i like the song and think it'll end up being a smash hit during this time of year.
I feel like the whole "I'm going back to my roots and the beginning of my career/life" theme was well intentioned, but maybe Cole just didn't realize that his sound hadn't progressed enough for this album to stick out as a homecoming as opposed to sounding like he's just leaning on everything he's been known for since he came out. Let's talk about college! And high school! And moving to NYC! And chicks from highscool/college!
The tracks where he was just going in were amazing, though. Dude is def one of the best rappers in the game right now especially for the pro-black touches throughout, like Firing Squad is amazing and has that dude talking some real ish at the end. I just wish he hadn't had the idea to "do this one for my Warm Up people". Let that be a couple albums down the line. That's what killed it for me.

Dudes are terrible as it is...then to address a social issue as such just doesn't resonate with me, especially coming from both of them.
Then following this they'll top it off with more tracks glorifying homicides.

Stay freshI just want to say one thing before I give my thoughts on FHD: I am so glad he didn't drop a single. I didn't realize how much I would've appreciated that. Normally singles drop before the album and I hear it so much that I automatically skip the track when I get an album.
With that said I finally gave it a listen last night. I hate to sound cliche but like most of you have said, he really has improved and this album feels better than his first 2. I went back to listen to Born Sinner and I only liked 6 songs initially, I wasn't ahuge fan of the production.
I like the Intro. I had to listen to Jan 28 twice. I listen to Wet Dreamz twice
. 03' Adolescence is meh. I feel like I've heard that song too many times before. I like Tale of 2 Citiez. Fire Squad is
. I love the production. No Role Models is
I like 11 of 13 songs. Definitely getting my copy on Tuesday.
I'll wait some months before calling it a classic. Classics are timeless and I normally don't get tired of listening to it.

I like Cole but this album didn't connect to me. I was really trying to make myself like it. I listened to it last night heavily, woke up this morning with no passion to listen to it again.

Man I used to be a J Cole stan. I give up on this dude. There werent any necessarily bad songs, but he needs to stop being severely overrated imo.
Classic = timeless, and you guys are throwing that term around loosely. There is not 1 song on this album that is timeless.
