i wanna agree but what kind of surprise are you talking? 100-125k first week would be surprising and shocking to alot of people if u ask me.
Im thinking 50-80k are reasonable expectations.

I mean if Ace Hood can do 30k, Im sure Cole can clear that easy

Meet Jermaine Lamarr Cole, hip-hop’s newest superstar.
The German-born rapper J. Cole, who grew up in Fayetteville, NC, then went to school on a scholarship to St. John’s in Queens before getting discovered by Jay-Z, who made him the first signing to his Roc Nation label through Columbia, debuts at #1 with Cole World: The Sideline Story.

The album, which features collaborations with his mentor, as well as Trey Songz, Drakeand Missy Elliott, has surpassed even label expectations with prospectsof a sales total approaching 225-250k its first week. 250K fits week?!?!?!

That's more than Chris Brown's "F.A.M.E." & Rihanna's "Loud", and Lupe's "L.A.S.E.R.S." first weeks!

Roc Nation/Jay-Z buyin' copies?

Never new Missy had a voice like that. Her voice and J.coles voice work very well on the song, especially when Cole starts going melodic

People came in all day to cop. Target and walmart sold out around my Way.... I work at besbuy and his cd was sold out our store by 4pm....

Guy at the door at Best Buy mentioned that a lot of people were buying the album. I really doubt Roc Nation bought back copies. The fanbase is just loyal.

Really don't believe these numbers but good for him. He's MUCH more talented than some of these rappers that are going gold (Wayne, Ross, Nicki and so on)

I hope this creates a trend in letting rappers be they goddamn selves and growing into artist. Good sign for Krit, Kendrick, Etc..... People to this day still say J.Cole is only a lyrical dude and he sold that much
