[:: J. COLE THREAD | DREAMVILLE's ROTD3 ALBUM OUT NOW!! ::]

Okay, I finally have listened to the album a little bit more. I do like some of it.

Even tho Cole is lazy for jacking Outkast's beat, LAnd of the Snakes is dope

Forbidden Fruit is my song right now though... :smokin

Imma cop today jus cuz dude is cool as hell. I saw him at neiman marcus a few months back and dude was real chill. My son was running toward the escalator and dude kinda stopped him. Small talk for a few and a dap and i was out. Dude wasnt diva at all and embraced the few people that spoke to him. I ducked all the leaks and will listen when i cop later.

My coworker said if you're gonna sample something...make sure it's better than the OG.

The OG version is untouchable to me though.

After running through Yeezus once, Cole won with Born Sinner as an overall project between the two imo. I like both, but Yeezus is gonna take several listens for me to get into some songs (if I do at all). Yeezus has absolutely ridiculous production but the lyrics leave a little to be desired for me aside from a few tracks...Cole's might not have all that slappin production but the lyrics are so on point throughout

^^ I do like Cole's album, I think all the negative things I heard made me want to dislike it the first time I heard it. But there are TOO many skippable tracks on it. There's a lot of good chill tracks to :smokin but not anything that has being wanting to go HAM.

Yeezus is straight party/gym music. When I saw Kanye said he made this album for people to work out to and people to party to, I knew it'd be a banger. The album to me is pretty hype.

Lyrically is Coles album better? Yes
Is it a better hip hop album? Yes
Is it boring? A little bit

I still like Born Sinner though.

See I can't classify it as even a little boring, its just not as :wow: holy **** in your ears like Yeezus is . I said it in the Ye thread though, most Kanye albums take a few listens for them to absorb fully (especially 808s and MBDTF) Yeezus is different but its good to me off one spin, Born Sinner is different too for Cole but I've prolly gone through it like 10 times now and I still really love it. But they are sonically two TOTALLY different albums but BS gets the higher rating for me overall, I'll likely grow into Yeezus more but probably not enough to surpass BS for me :smokin

^^ I hear ya. As said, I've finally given BS some spins, and it is good. I was just disappointed there weren't any stand out tracks in terms of a Dollar and a Dream 3, Rise and Shine, Mr. Nice Watch, God's Gift, etc. The content is there, but I still feel most of the production just doesn't stick out like it has with Cole in the past.

^ Imma disagree. I actually liked Yeezus a bit better. I'm more of a Cole fan too.
This.

I want to like Cole's album more and I'm not even a Kanye fan like that, but Yeezus is definitely head and shoulders better than Born Sinner in my subjective and humble opinion.

Yeezus is straight dookie in my subjective and humble opinion.

Born Sinner + Truly Yours 3 >>>>>> Yeezus.

A lot of people have given Trouble, Forbidden Fruit and Let Nas Down some love. What about Born Sinner? I can't get enough of that hook!

What's funny is how overlooked Mac's album is... the album is fresh.
I'm not even a fan of Mac's, but I figured whats the worst that could happen if i listened to it..

Listened to it twice so far, and I dig it. Production is on point.. Dope features..

.

Statk's joint is dope to, but it's more of a raw hip hop album..

I still feel like Born Sinner feels more like a mixtape than and album, but I've been giving the project lots of spins.

Kind of wish he would've taken a different route with this album. Album is painfully boring with only three standout tracks, and that's being generous.

Power Trip is arguably one of the best tracks on here, smh. I'll support next go round.

Strangely, I'm anticipating Drake's album now because this was such a let down. Cole's story needs more to it it can't be that much of a spin cycle when you're rich.
