[:: J. COLE THREAD | DREAMVILLE's ROTD3 ALBUM OUT NOW!! ::]

After seeing the best buy vid

I'm sure he bought most of them his self

But yeah great numbers for Cole

So Close to 300K but still impressive :smokin ......Nice to see a dude who you followed since day 1, reaching success, and not too far from Yeezy with 327K

Props to Cole.

Now we need that record where he flexs on these industry and rapper smucks. Kick that humble to side for 3-5 mins Cole. 300K on these dudes... Only "new" rapper to do that. Had the highest selling week on CW till Kendrick came along too

This is with me excluding Drake and Nicki cuz they like Pop/Rap at this point

Drake isn't pop.

I dont consider Drake full out Pop but he has reached a status that is untouchable for just a "rapper" in 2013. Thats no knock to him or anything like that.

He is just one of few that can go gold or better first week

Just heard that remix to Let Nas Down...had me in the crib like....

700

Gotta agree with Fantano on this one...

He took a step back. Drops some really corny lines. I really can't get over that whole f*gg*t sequence on the first track along with a couple other real clunkers. Nothing really conceptually strong either, not like Lights Please or Lost Ones.

Fantano gives him a 5, I'd toss out a 6.5.

I think that line hit home for a lot of dudes...

I mean godYe only did 30K more...

Check out dudes sales since Graduation.

The next album will be even worse if he doesn't go back to his roots.

Probably 240-250. It would of still been more than sideline. Power Trip has been massive for months, lets not think he didn't have any buzz at all before Kanye. But The Kanye cole discussion definitely helped him a lot. 40-50k in sales worth...IMHO.

I wondered about that too. Whether if his singles werent as enticing as they were with CD, LR graduation.

Whether his behavior outside the studio has caused a disconnection with a portion of his fanbase.

Whether this lack of 'promo' and no single prior to release deterred ppl. Who knows lol.

Back to the thread topic tho, Cole's numbers are amazing regardless. Dude deserves it

I wonder how much Cole would have done had he not release it the same day as godYe
Same thing I'm thinking.

interesting point. its a def different album, unmarketed, no singles. not surprised. still spinning it but i like it a lot more than when i first heard it. born sinner was fire off the bat. FINALLY got my copy, walked to the best buy and they had a FULL restock of yeezy, cole, everything.

This interview with NPR is a great read. Ali from Tribe is the interviewer and he really enjoyed the album... He breaks it down quite well and gets some good feedback from Cole

nice.

I mean, yeah. I had a good buddy in college who turned out to be gay, That's about when I stopped saying f*gg*t.

But those couple lines don't make sense. Then he gets into butt sex talk. I just... it's corny.

Oh okay, I see. In this case I agree with you. Not from a musical perspective, but from a status perspective he is a pop artist now for sure and IMO is the only one (Other than Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and maybe Rick Ross) that could go gold in a week. He already did w/TC and got bigger. Huge Numbers for NWTS.

Interesting question though. I wonder how many he would have sold w/o the Ye aspect? I thought he was going to do 300k and he fell just short. Still great numbers. Will he get to platinum? I doubt it, I hope so though.
