Towards the end it gets better.. but, yeah I think this can go hard at the club.

I agree. I like it, but people want an incredibly deep song every time, I'm not always in the mood for that tho.

Def wont get any heavy radio play. I dunno what yall are listening to.
see both sets of comments...thats why Cole wont win...tryin to please one crowd, and he didnt even do it that well(if at all)....and at the same time his core fanbase is prolly gonna feel alienated by this song....which i think is overstating it and only a temporary thing but still
the song is cool...but it prolly still wont get heavy radio...and it will get hate, not because its not deep(maybe from sum folks) but the real hate is gonna come cuz the song isnt a normal sound that young people are use to hearing on the radio...I mean what else out sounds like this? thats not a knock on him...but i mean popular music fans or urban radio fans like what they like and this will be unfamiliar

I don't love this track but I like what it is for a first single. In today's music industry Cole had to make something radio friendly with some sort of crossover appeal. I knew it wouldn't be one of his harder/deeper tracks but this is a solid track. Lyrics are decent, production is solid, and it has a very good hook.

Can't wait to hear the album!!

Ace I agree with your commentary regarding the situation of him trying to please both crowds.  I feel like with this song Cole did the best he could of making something radio friendly/catchy without giving up too much of his artistic integrity.  However as you said it doesn't sound like much else on the radio (which I admit I don't listen to) but it probably is better than most hip-hop songs getting spins on the radio.

As I have stated before in this thread I never expect Cole right now in todays hip-hop climate to get major radio spins.  When he does create a radio hit I believe it will come from a great song where he is not going for the radio appeal at all.  Dude did what he had to do as an artist to put out a first single to appeal the label and it actually is a decent song.  Nothing special but if you were a realistic Cole fan then you shouldn't have expected a "Losing My Balance" type track as his first single. It is what it is.

I don't get the reasoning. Who Dat got radio play and didnt sound like absolutely anything on the radio, so why won't this? This is way more appealing to the radio than Who Dat with all the editing that had to be done to that song. And I hear he can't make hooks and this is as catchy as any hook out. We'll see. It's been out a couple hours and won't get radio play. O ok.

Song is dope and very catchy. Solid single for Cole. Like what was said earlier, Im not always in the mood for deep emotional stuff

yea I agree with you...speaking for myself and being a fan of his I actually like the record and im glad he pulled this off...
but just being objective ya know, I know people may not rock with this and it may not attract him any more fans and it may reaffirm to some ppl that he aint "got it" but I hope im wrong
mjhead23... I dont listen to the radio much but Im down south and I know Who Dat wasnt coming out that many speakers down here...college campus computer speakers yes but i mean in the grand scheme of things that song is just a rap song...Work Out is def a complete song that should be given a chance...im just sayin sum ppl gonna disagree

I'm in Cincinnati the radio is HORRIBLE here so when they played Who Dat I was shocked. But it was in rotation for a min.

I think you are indeed being objective which some Cole fans will not be because like others have said they expect a deep track on every song Cole records so they can't appreciate this record for what it is and what he had to deliver as a FIRST SINGLE.  I too am glad he pulled off this kind of first single that has a catchy hook yet doesn't sound like everything else on the radio.

I'm feeling this song. Idk why people are disliking it. Catchy and doesnt sound like other stuff on the radio. I'm sure he'll still come correct with the more lyrical records for the album.

That hook sucks but ill let him live. Now that beat is fire

I would rather a west coast dude have that joint like Nipsey Hussle. Cole sound corny on it.

Imma play it a couple times to see if it sticks.

IMO "workout" will make it to the radio. it doesn't appeal to his normal fan base but it does appeal to the ladies. in the end he has to do something to appeal to the mainstream, and the song is kinda catchy

and it has a summer feel to it
