The "it factor" you're referring to is a gimmick.

That's why we like Cole. It's straight hip-hop, no gimmicks.

i wanna agree but what kind of surprise are you talking? 100-125k first week would be surprising and shocking to alot of people if u ask me.
Im thinking 50-80k are reasonable expectations.

I mean if Ace Hood can do 30k, Im sure Cole can clear that easy

I think he will surprise a lot of people too.

There has been multiple times when I've stopped at a stop light and a car full of valley white girls pulled up slappin' "The Warm Up". Wasn't even Lights Please either

Clowns need gimmicks to attract attention.

Casual rap listeners don't listen to lyrics. They listen to a rapper's ability to sell them on a gimmick, rather than the content itself.

J. Cole is not gonna tell people to drop out of college.

J. Cole is not "the white rapper that could."

J. Cole doesn't need to tell people he's "the best rapper alive."

He doesn't need a gimmick. I understand that clowns don't listen to lyrics, and need to be attracted to a fabricated gimmick. Sorry, but you're listening to the wrong rapper.

"It factor"

Im surprised that it was The Warm Up and not FNL

I have such high expectations for this that it's going to NEED to be album of the year to live up to them.

what u meant to say was J. Cole is not Pop(ular) with white teen demographic.
B.o.B. had no buzz sold, 87K

Big Sean own buzz isnt bigger than Cole's but he sold 87K

Tyler the Creator buzz got him 50K, n 3/4 of black twitter never heard of him to MTV awards last week.

White kids buying yo album is not equal buzz.

Lil Wayne bout to pull a mill on Carter 4 and sum would say he aint have no buzz for his album

B.o.B is LOVED by the white community. He had 2 big singles and white girls love him. He went gold. And he is doing an all Asian tour, he is doing just fine in his niche

Big Sean got zero support from Kanye (Ye showed more love to Yonkers than any Big Sean track post "Get'cha some") and zero marketing. My Last is a big single but most ppl believe it's a Chris Brown cut. Although I was surprised he didn't do better, year is not over though.

Tyler the Creator put out his album too fast in order to capitalize on his buzz. He had a strong internet buzz but he seriously should have waited and built up anticipation more. Heard about dude and his crew in March, son put out an album May. Not enough time.

Lil Wayne doesn't need buzz at this point

White kids buying your album when you have buzz helps quite a bit. J. Cole has no successful single, and Any Given Sundays have no buzz. What will help him though is his affiliation with Jay. Jay is going to make sure his album is shipped and stocked in all markets instead of submarined like Wale's

I hear what u saying but I dont equate that to Buzz, especially in the case of the 3 acts I mentioned.
I mean in hip-hop, i dont feel like those ppl are checked for, discussed, anticipated, stanned, hated like Cole...thats on and off the internet. They are in fact in the spotlight more than Cole but i dunno if i wud sayn "buzzin" but ayy maybe im wrong.

Like gucci mane and flocka have buzz, but their sales wont reflect that. Big Sean sales and single performance will reflect buzz but thats really off the strength of his songs being featured by Chris Brown and Kanye and their contributions being the draw to the records.

I agree with you on the Jay thing. n yes having the white crowd checkin for you will definitely improve ur sales but Cole doesn't appeal to that overall audience

who cares what he sells... long as the music's good.. i prefer no one mainstream buys his record, then he'll stop sacrificing record spots for music catering to them.
